It is a much more fulfilling experience to take a relaxing between giant trees, instead of looking for parking on traditional tourist destinations in the region. Not a very long long walk, very popular with dog walkers. The surrounding are beautiful. A good circle but does have a steep incline and a steep decent. We did read it was buggy friendly but is not a for a city buggy( we have a all trail buggy).there was a very tall tree down over the path which involved have to carry the buggy over big logs to get around it.highly recommend if in the area An absolutely stunning ancient woodland, I would recommend everyone visit! I was a bit worried at first not being able to find the tallest tree in Northern Europe, but the woodland is very clearly signposted. Well worth taking the time to enjoy this epic place. I had been to Scotland when I was a wee lad and remembered that there were these hidden little rain forest gems tucked away here and there. I simply typed in "rain forest" into maps and this one popped up. We were staying in Dornoch so it wasn't terribly far (just beware of rush hour in Inverness which can be very slow). The main hike is very easy. However, there are other trails that are more of a challenge. Make sure to bring a lot of water as the glen can get quite humid in the summer. I'm not sure I want to describe the place much more. I uploaded some photos here. It's a very special place and I highly encourage anyone, living local or traveling, to experience it for yourself. You won't regret it. For people using public transport, take bus 28 from Inverness to Inchmore Hotel. Check bus frequency, buses were once every hour (weekday, afternoon) when I visited. You can get a return ticket on board. From there, it's a 40 minute to Reelig Glen. Nice views along the walk, too. Very pleasant trail, quiet with very few people around. Lovely views from start to finish. If you don't have your own transport (backpacker like me) but want to get there than: 1) take a bus No 28 from Inverness Bus Station to Drumchardine (stop: Hotel). If you not sure ask a driver. 2) around 1,7 miles path next to road, just read signs. It's difficult to lost there, everything is marked. Cross small bridge and after turn to left. There is no side path, just road - go all time straight. In short time you will see car parking. There is start of your forest trip! Important! Always check bus for way back. They are not so regular , especially on weekends. And don't forget that you need back again same way to bus stop in Drumchardine. *** for "Outlander's" lover - you can visit Wardlaw Mausoleum, also by - if you feel enough strength (2.5 miles).
