We took the from Inverness to Urquhart Castle. The ship had both open and enclosed seating available. There is a small on ship cafe where drink and snacks may be purchased. There is a very entertaining guide that provides commentary during the sailing. There are 2 options available one to the castle and one without the castle stop. I would recommend stopping at the Castle as the history is very interesting. Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises offers a fantastic voyage into the heart of the Highlands. The commentary is both informative and entertaining, and the views of Urquhart Castle and the surrounding scenery are breathtaking. A truly memorable way to experience Loch Ness! This 1-hour takes you on a round trip from the dock to the Urquhart Castle and back. On the ship, you can enjoy great views of Loch Ness, as well as the Urquhart Castle. During the cruise, you will be introduced to some of the loch’s features, such as its depth and historical background. I was part of a tour that included a along Loch Ness, but we did the ride without entering the castle. It was a great — the boat was very comfortable, and the commentary was both informative and engaging. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot Nessie! For history buffs, the castle tour would definitely be worth adding. I didn't get to see Nessie but I still had a great time. It was not too cold but it was windy and I had so many layers that I was able to get outside and experience the Loch in its full glory. Recommend to buy tickets for the boat ahead of time. Relaxing with stunning scenery The Jacobite on Loch Ness is the perfect mix of history, nature, and relaxation. The boat is comfortable, the audio guide is well put together and full of interesting facts about the loch, Urquhart Castle, and the local legends. The scenery is breathtaking, especially on clear days, and the peaceful atmosphere on the water makes it unforgettable. A must-try whether you’re a tourist or a curious local. Great time! The crew is very well organized and everything is run smoothly. We did the quick 1-hour tour and it was the perfect amount of time to see and learn a little about Loch Ness. Cannot confirm if we did or did not see Nessie 😉 THE VALUE WASN' T WORTH IT This is a fairly standard one-hour boat trip on Loch Ness, with some basic narration about the lake and its surroundings. It departed and returned on time, and made a short stop in front of Urquhart Castle, which is located just about a mile south of the departure point. Important: If you want to get off and explore the castle, make sure you book the tour option that includes the visit – this one only passes by the site. TIP: If you’re not driving, consider other options. The departure point is quite far from Inverness city.
