The Winterline WWII at Venafro is dedicated to the central Italy campaign along the Bernhardt Line, from November 1943 to 5th March 1944 and it is breathtaking. It has to be seen to be believed as words alone cannot do it justice. Housed on 2 floors, it is an extraordinary private of items collected by Luciano Bucci and his friend from age12. There are wonderful, historically accurate and original displays of uniforms, weapons and armament, among much else. The was built in 2007 from a huge of items found and assembled over 30 years. They are still collecting artefacts and memorabilia from the war, found in the neighbourhoods and mountains around Venafro. The contains large numbers of photographs, documents, letters and display cases with contents ranging from medical supplies, to iron rations, and many of the personal effects that belonged to the soldiers. Some of the most memorable exhibits are the cameos; recreated scenes, depicted in minute and realistic detail with life-like mannequins ranging, for example, from the interior of a small home, accurately recreated, with an elderly lady and a soldier, to face-to-face encounters of soldiers.
