Just a heads-up — this gym doesn’t feel like a true gym. The coach seems to come more from an MMA or kickboxing background, and while he teaches boxing, the approach blends in a lot of techniques that don’t quite line up with traditional fundamentals. For example, a big portion of class is spent working combinations in southpaw, even though many are still figuring things out in their natural stance — and it seems like that’s a regular part of the training, not a one-off. That might make sense for MMA, but it’s not the way to build a solid foundation. Also, the is done barefoot, which again, is very unusual for boxing. I also noticed that the coach could be a bit impatient with mistakes — even with who were just there for a trial session — which is not very welcoming. Overall, the vibe in a gym felt a little ego-driven to me. And one more thing — they don’t allow you to bring your own water. That felt a bit off — I think basics like hydration should be a given. If costs of running the gym is a concern, it would feel more honest to adjust the price of the session rather than adding that kind of restriction. The sessions are varied, ranging from technical drills to intensive conditioning exercises, which keeps it challenging and engaging. The facility is clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant atmosphere for training. Definitely highly recommended. Visiting Ghent from Canada, professional coach and good work out. Would recommend! Royal Gym is an excellent place to learn martial arts: the gym is perfectly equipped, very clean, trainers are highly trained and professional. But the most important is that it's a friendly environment with a welcoming community. I can only recommend! I've been attending the Thai classes at this martial arts club, and it's been a fantastic experience overall. The facility is impeccably hygienic, and the workouts are well-balanced—ranging from very technical drills to intense conditioning sessions. The atmosphere is both professional and welcoming, thanks to the excellent coaches and friendly participants. The location is convenient for both Gent residents and those coming from outside the city. There's an underground paid parking space right below the club, and they even provide parking vouchers, which is a nice touch. One suggestion for improvement for me would be to incorporate a bit more light sparring as a class exercice into the general lesson curriculum, however that is a minor detail. Memberships are offered in three-month intervals, which provides a good commitment period without being overwhelming. If you want, you can train almost every weekday as part of the membership. Overall, I highly recommend this club to anyone interested in Thai boxing, (or or MMA in general) whether you're a beginner or looking to advance your skills. Trained for a week while staying in Gent. The gym is well equipped and almost feels like home. The coach explains the moves in detail and focuses on correct execution and timing. I surely recommend it for group or private training! Royal Gym is a fantastic place. From day one, it felt like home. Steve, the Head Coach is a professional always happy to help, correct and improve his students fighting abilities. The gym facility is clean, spacious and well-maintained. The is challenging, technical regardless of the discipline you choose, be ready to push yourself my friend. You will sweat, you will learn, you will grow. The guys who train there are friendly, everytime I finish a session im proud. Do not wait, just join and work hard. You're at the right place I’ve been in multiple classes like MMA, and Muay Thai, and every time I’m being reached by professionals. This is truly a high level gym! gym with that help you learn at your pace while still being serious enough to provide excellent support for those that want more than just a workout. Free showers and parking are a big plus too! Royal Gym is awesome! trainers, people. A place where there's a lot of attention towards respect for one another and learning the technique correctly at your own pace. The sessions are very intense and enjoyable, for that want to learn the sport or just have a workout! Serious, but friendly, environment. Perfect for all ages! gym, people. I've been to my share of gyms over the years, and there's no comparison to Royal Gym. Trainings offer the opportunity to improve your skills no matter which level you're on. Some complex combinations at first but you'll get the hang of it soon enough. If you're up for a fun challenge in a friendly environment, you're at the right address.
