Had an informative with an amazing tasting session. The quality of the gelatos were really good, and the flavours that they play with are amazing! Definitely psyched to come back for the masterclass! Interesting history of company and Gelato Class was a lot of fun and excellent presentation The was very interesting and informative. But we got to taste 12 different flavors. It was amazing, highly recommended. We did the only but not the activity - actually making gelato. Learned a lot about the history of making. The admission also included a free at the cafe (3 flavours). A fairly long way from Bologna. However, if you are on the way to Modena or Parma, this is worth visiting. So worth the detour!! Easy location. The friendliest staff. Totally kid friendly and accomodating. Federica was lovely and a wonderful guide. We wish we had planned better so we could have taken advantage of the longer for kids. Definitely inquire and book in advance. We learned so much about and can't wait to go back to take the University class!! Wonderful experience, specialy for the kids! The regular tours last 20 min. The guide was with very poor English. Delicious at the end. Generally quite disappointing A very nice experience. We booked a Masterclass, which included the museum tour, making a sorbetto and preparing some ice cream using a Carpigiani machine. The was quite interesting, with all the machines and how the technology improved them. Then we had a short theoretical lesson about the differences between gelato, ice cream and sorbetto, quantities, ingredients, flavours. We had a little fun game where we had to guess the flavour of the gelato/sorbetto from the pictures or smells (which I found it surprising). At the end, we had the chance of have a competition between teams, making a sorbetto by hand using a whisk. Then, we made two gelatos (hazelnut and pistachio) using one of their machines and tasted it. Overall, I found it an 1.5 hour well spent. Definitely recommended. We enjoyed the visit, the interactive experience and the lesson on the history and craft of gelato. The only downside was the location. Being so far away from the city, we had a lot of difficulty with public transportation as foreign tourists. Be careful when traveling in busses and get tickets beforehand. A really great day-trip activity! We left Bologna city center around 1:45 pm and took bus 87, which takes about 45 minutes and drops you right at the entrance—very convenient. (On the way back we found out that bus 87 has limited departure times, so we had to transfer to get back to the city center, which was a bit inconvenient.) The staff were very friendly, spoke good English, and explained things clearly. However, the explanations might be a little challenging for kids under 6. If you’re traveling with young children who don’t want to follow the presentation, one parent may need to wait with them in the lounge area. After the explanations, everyone gets to make sorbet and taste gelato—our kids loved it! All activities require advance booking, and I recommend waiting for email confirmation before going. When we visited today, there were only five family groups and it was already full, with no walk-in availability. Just beware of how you plan your visit to this place. The online reservation section DOES NOT reflect which dates and hours are available in reality! We reshuffled our entire vacation and accommodation to be able to book a visit here for our kid, just because under the booking section on the site a certain date and time was available and free for selection. When we actually tried to book it, surprise - the slot is not available! So we are now left with accommodation outside the city, not much time until our flight to do anything else, and half a day of our vacation lost. Nice experience. We had a family and it was so interesting and knowledge-enhancing. The history of ice cream production was ok for adults but not really for kids. In the end we were only able to try three ice cream flavors.
