Bird in Hand, Fforest – A Pub Classic That’s Flying High! 🐦🍻 Right at the foot of the M4, Bird in Hand is absolutely booming every weekend—proving that the new management is nailing proper pub grub! 🍽️ 🍽️ What We Ate: 🔥 Hunter’s Chicken – Smothered in BBQ & cheese, with crispy sweet potato fries. 🍛 Chef’s Curry – A fruity, mild delight with naan, poppadom, & half-and-half rice & chips. 🐟 Fish Fingers, Mash & Peas – A hit with our little foodie! ⭐ The standout? The homemade chips! Golden, fluffy, and seriously addictive. 🤤 💰 Don’t let the prices scare you! Portions are huge, and the quality is top-tier—worth every penny. We’re already planning a return for their Sunday Roast! 🙌 Amazing pub with very tasty pub food. There were lots of vegetarian options and classic pub options. Lots of were the highlight. Food took a while to come out but it was fresh and we had a party of 9. Would highly if youre passing on through to Pembrokshire. The had a wide variety of tasty options and accommodated our party's dairy and gluten free requirements with no problem. The lamb dishes are definitely the stars of the but the other options are given plenty of room to shine with the sweet chilli salmon being loved by one of our group. The portions are very generous, and the desserts well worth saving room for, especially as there's a delicious dairy free one which makes a change from places that offer sorbet or nothing. The is good, the background music not too loud, it's bright and nicely decorated. We booked about a week in advance and had no trouble getting the we requested. The food orders can be a little slow but they are honest about this up front due to everything being cooked fresh to order - we ordered a couple of things which they advised us would be a little slower cooking. The waiting were attentive, regularly checking if we needed anything. Would definitely return if in the area again. Came today on a wet Thursday afternoon. The place was dead but the food quality was very good. A very well planned and thought out with plenty of lamb dishes. The waitresses were and very attentive, I will certainly return. Thank you Great place to visit. very comprehensive and food excellent Amazing home cooked Sunday lunch, we can highly the food here! First having Sunday lunch and it was so tasty, homemade cauliflower cheese, beautiful Yorkshire puddings, creamy mash potatoes and a selection of fresh vegetables. Plenty of gravy and sauces. The lamb is a must to try ! Went for lunch recently, waited an hour for our meal. When it eventually turned up one meal was cold. The were also unhelpful and unpleasant, wouldn't When i say you need to go here, I mean really really need to go. Booking at weekends is a must as it was heaving when we went. We arrived and were met by a pleasant young lady who showed us to our table. The decor was very nice not to overpowering nor too chincy. we were advised that there could be a 40-minute wait for the food it was way less than that. Drink orders were promptly taken and delivered. Now the food oh my days, they have a very expensive menue showcasing their own farmed lamb ( next vist for me). Starters I had cockles, bacon and larverbread in a creamy served with homemade bread. Wife had halloum fries. Both were delicious. Our main dishes were on the specials board. For me, monkfish in Normandy with muscle and apple (not fried) it was soooo tasty, really meaty fish, huge muscles, and some bread to mop up the sauce. Wife had chicken stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in palma ham. Chicken was still very moist. came with salad, fries and a sauce. When i say it was all very tasty, it really was. Be warned that the portion sizes are on the large side, plenty for me. The price was a shock in a way. Folks, please give it a go. I promise you will not be disappointed. The photos don't do it justice tbf. Visited for the first with my girlfriend on 1st February to see the Elvis tribute artist and also to have a meal. It was extremely busy at 1900 when we arrived and we were told that there will be a wait of around an hour for our food which we didn’t mind. When the food arrived it was absolutely amazing and very delicious. Lucy M the waitress was very pleasant and couldn’t do enough to help. Will definitely be coming back soon and will certainly you. Excellent food. The braised beef and lamb shoulder just fell apart and the extra gravy was a nice touch! Service was friendly and managed expectations about wait. views too. Enjoyed the sunset from the window. Bustling on a Tuesday night. Always a sign It was a busy Saturday afternoon around 3pm when we came for lunch. The place was busy as they're was a rugby game taking place. It took a few minutes and then they were able to make a table available in the bar area because we didn't make a reservation. We were asked to place our order & pay first. We then were seated & served water. From there or was quiet for 40+ minutes as we waited for our food. No one checked in and we finally had to ask the waiter to check our order and the food was finally brought to us. The food were well prepared and with flavor more so than your usual English pub which was nice. We finished and just left. There are not enough words to describe how fantastic our experience was. We were very warmly welcomed with our pooch on the off chance on Valentines Day. The food was sublime. The portions were huge, and we felt a warmth from the staff. We are already planning our next visit. Thank you!!! Sunday carvery and super friendly After taking a little while to decide what to have from the extensive menu, I had the chicken curry. I have not had a pub curry like this for years, and was the best I have tried. The were not obviously bought in, but freshly prepared and cooked to perfection. The portion was big so I could not finish it, I was offered a carton so I could take what I had not eaten home. The waitress was very attentive and no request or question was too big. The was warm and welcoming. I have previously been for the carvery on a Sunday and is my favourite place on a Sunday for food. I would definitely go back again We booked the venue for a wake. Price per head was excellent for the amount of food we had. The buffet was excellent with plenty of choice and more than enough food. The was and the service provided by all the was faultless. They couldn't have done any more for us. Highly recommended!! Thank you :) Went for Sunday lunch yesterday, table of 5, absolutely brilliant carvery. Really impressed with the quality of the food! Service was great, chef carving the meat was full of energy and gave portions. Would 100% return, is here especially when the log fire is lit, will start coming here more often for sure. Outdoor area looks great for summer, speakers and great seating. Would love more cheese in the cauliflower cheese, little bit watery, apart from that, spot on! Booked a table for nine people and was then told two days later that they can't accommodate a party of nine. Conflicting information from two different employees We had Sunday lunch here today as we had been camping just down the road , first trying here and the Sunday lunch was one of the best we’ve had , absolutely amazing I had the child’s carvery and it was enough in fact to much 😂🫣 , and the garlic mushroom starter was beautiful 😻 highly this place 10/10 from me 👌 my friend had the prawn cocktail and she said it was beautiful also 👌 Me and the daughter called in Saturday absolutely stunning food we had a burger each and onion rings, all of it was so tasty highly recommended this place loads to choose from on , the service was great and the hawkstone on draught was a touch , I can’t wait to return, the best place ive been for pub food in a long Had a for my sisters 65th birthday ,8 of us in total.Food was delicious and fresh ingredients. Pie is to die for, yummy. We always have a meal here, portions are great and food always hot and fresh. is great and waiting always attentive. Had the festive hot dog on my last visit and it was delicious, with proper gravy on the side, would to anyone wanting a home cooked meal. Fantastic! After having a and the use of the minibus last November, I purchased a gift voucher for my son and his wife for Christmas which they used last night. Firstly my son tried to book the minibus but was told it was too far, even though we had it to Bonllwyn in Ammanford. Secondly my son booked a table for 2 but when he arrived they could not go in the restaurant as they were told only larger groups are in the restaurant, customers should be told this beforehand, so they were given a table for 2 in the bar which was not ideal on their very rarely night out. I was very disappointed at their experience after highly recommending it to them and buying a £70 voucher. Don't think they will be returning 🙁 Messed up our bookings and let us down. Fantastic starter, perfect steak mainand peppercorn sauce, was buzzing, the were really nice and helpful and although the place was packed they could not do anymore for you with a big smile, really evening, would absolutely 🍸🍾 Me and my partner visited here during our stay at riverview touring park. The was really nice and the were amazing and very welcoming. Although it was busy, we were able to be seated and didn’t mind a bit of a longer wait on the food (which wasn’t the case). The is brilliant with so much to choose from. Our food was so so good, I had the pie and it was excellent! I would this to anyone in the area. Thanks! We traveled down to visit the Bird in Hand from Lampeter just to try the Chili Hot Dog on the specials - and we didn't regret it! The portion was massive! Their chip shop-style are fantastic (better than our local award winning chip shop), and the hot dog was just amazing - the cheese was 👌. I also opted for the Salted Caramel & Chocolate Slice on their specials and it was superb - the vanilla fond on the top was incredible. My partner had the Bread & Butter Pudding and he said it was equally fantastic. We coupled our visit with a shopping trip to Llanelli, so we'll be definitely doing this again soon and looking forward to try something else on the menu! I'd also like to commend them for their service - the girls did a fantastic job and service was very 👍 Beautiful food and generous portions of home cooked ingredients. We had a jacket with curry and the tikka chicken burger. Curry was superb and tikka burger was lovely. Only thing I would say, and a serving suggestion rather than a criticism, would be to provide the mint yoghurt as a dip for the tikka burger as it made the bhaji a little soggy. Other than that. Food was perfect 👍. Had a meal there today. Lots of choice, freshly cooked, atmosphere, friendly and a log fire, what more do you need? Highly recommended. The foos is amazing. Can't go wrong with a burger. The chicken burger amazing and so was the chips. I had a bread and butter pudding and that was delicious and definitely my go to desert. The services is always amazing and the are polite and friendly. The is always chilled and relaxed. Also there is a lot of options when it comes to alcohol and soft drinks. Will be going back soon, for another burger.
