I'm not rating any other facilities. The badminton courts are a very unique surface, basically surfaced like an outdoor court. The temperature in the "hall" varies wildly throughout the year, as it is essentially a giant permanent tent. In the winter months our group generally stops playing as it is so cold. The hour long slots are decent, but of all the courts I play on I would have to say these are the worst. Clean gym and friendly staff however I can’t understand why the ski machines and punch bag are locked away from general use. The equipment should be accessible for everyone not just specific classes Great site with lots to do. Joined the gym to improve overall health but found it’s very busy, people constantly sitting on phones blocking use of machines. The techno gym app just does not work missed bits of your routine out so not accurate. Notice most people don’t use that app but a health app on their own phone. You always have to q to get in at reception. Swimming pool is great sauna is commandeered by men so if your not confident can be bit intimidating. First time there caught the cold as people do not clean the machines even though there are signs up and no anti bac in any of the holders. Staff are nice great facilities could do with few tweaks lots of things don’t work properly but that’ll be down to funds. Pretty good gym and I appreciate the refurbishment has added lots of new equipment. However there are so few benches and the free weights section from 1kg to 10kg is stuck in a cramped corner with no benches. Seems a bit discriminatory to those of us who are older, female and still working on building up our strength and fitness. Especially when there is a ton of space for the higher weights which are most likely to be used by men. I did fill out a Contact Us form asking if there were any plans to move the lower weights to a more spacious area with benches but unfortunately nobody from Xcite replied. Cannot commend the staff at excite Bathgate more highly after my son dislocated his knee playing badminton. Liam and Blake went above and beyond in keeping him (and his mum and girlfriend) comfortable and calm until the ambulance arrived. Many thanks chaps! We’ll definitely be back.
