Almost forgotten for centuries, now restauration of the highest level is underway. Well preserved Gothic cathedral surrounded by historic buildings of an abbey in a small town. The restoration of the West facade is almost completed. The abbey contains 2 small museums. A walk through the town is recommended. Parking on busy days might be an issue. A walk through a picturesque village to the area around the church. I'm told the area hosts a big medieval festival which makes sense. The church and grounds are stunning, and you can watch the stone carvers who work to restore these buildings. Great little cafe on the grounds when you're ready for a break. This is a beautiful abbey. The drive out is a little hairy with small French roads but it is a very pleasant drive to a beautiful location. The grounds, museum, and cathedral are wonderfully kept.
