Pewsey wharf is a lovely little spot on the Kennet and Avon canal,it's great for walks along the towpath and to watch the boats slowly passing by.....There is also the Waterside Inn where you can pop into for something to eat and drink...👍 A great place to explore the Kennet and Avon from. Lost a star, as there is a parking charge 24 hours, It's 10 minutes stroll from the station, or 15 minutes stroll from Pewsey village centre where the parking is free. A beautiful location with views of the hills to the north, and Salisbury Plain to the south. Stopped off here to night to have supper. Food was super. My wife and I had the trio of sausages and the steak and kidney pie. Watched the sun set by the lovely.. Always welcome, all facilities for boaters! So few on k and a. Astonished by our recent visit in march, the seems deserted! Usually rammed with boats and no where to moor. Car park is £2 for 4 hours then £8 for longer. Lovely stroll along the canal, we did a loop heading west to the first bridge and back on the opposite side. Easy parking. Lovy little spot. Cheap car park and nice pub close by. The village of Pewsey is ashort walk. So, came here with only one purpose. Launch our canoe. There is a bar bistro called the waterfront. It's only open on certain days/nights but it looked pleasant with a nice side beer garden. Parking is £2 for 4hours, proceeds to the trust. Some lovely walks from here along the towpath. About 4 miles west is a lovely pub called the Barge ,and, on the opposite side of the canal, s very nice cafe /tearoom. Well worth a visit. Carpark very quiet. still in lockdown, but barge owner happy to chat at scocial distance as we kayaked past. Update 16/4/23 Canal a busier then before with watercraft moving along the in both directions. Still very peaceful paddling at a leisurely pace Plenty of wildlife to observe along with a swan who doesn't seem to like kayaks much or was just trying to borrow mine. All in all a loverly few hours on the K & A. Had a great walk along the side. So peaceful A great pub the staff were fantastic very pleasant evening Good place for Kayaking. Many hours paddling as Mikes between locks. Lots narrow boats parked along the route. Saw lots of birds. Parking in wharf cheap but limited space so come early. Launch site is a slip way so easy in but slippery out so reverse back up easier.
