A decent golf course with some holes, fairways were very dry but greens were decent, a couple had been ravaged by crows, but were being repaired. for beginners to intermediate golfers. Bar shut Monday and Tuesday! Top marks, best course I've played this year, maybe the best in Hampshire. Great variety of holes, one incredible hilly par 5 and one amazing par 3 with a big old drop. 10/10 from me. Played here for the first time today, 9th April.... The course itself is amazing with spectacular views of the Hampshire countryside.. It was in condition.. Some long open fairways for the big hitters...The only negative was the tee boxes need some attention.. course for a mid to low handicapper.. Hire a buggy if your legs aren't that good... Clubhouse very welcoming but don't come looking to eat before you go out as they don't serve food... 4/5 I have tried to like this place; sadly it’s very hard to! The course is well designed and features some holes and beautiful views but its condition from tee boxes to greens is poor. Only gets better with local support and membership though right?… Membership enquiries made in person are gruffly responded through being pointed at a poster on wall and then back towards the website. Website forms completed yield no response after seven days. I’ve also used the range a few times and the mats are very worn, there’s a lack of rubber tees, and the balls are so varied in quality it is quite hard to assess ball flight, distance and progress. I even had a child’s plastic ball in one basket! I’d join here in a heartbeat and would be willing to go on a journey with them as they bring the standards up and find their love of golf and golfers again. A course bearing a county’s name should be flying the flag for golf in that area but sadly it doesn’t. I’d love for this review to get the attention of someone who could make a difference as I’m happy to discuss. I played the Academy course (short course) yesterday and it was looking a bit neglected. Greens were a bit messy and I couldn't see where the fairway ended and rough started. Wouldn't take too much to get this looking and playing better. On the plus side it is a test of the short game with 5 par 4's thrown in for measure. Hopefully going to play the Manor course shortly too. The pictures are walking up one of the par 4 fairways, made finding your ball interesting with so much white (daisies and dandelion fairies) everywhere. This course has a lot of potential and, with a bit more care, could be excellent. Tee boxes: Could use more attention — better watering and general upkeep would really improve them. Fairways: Running very quick at the moment, likely due to the dry weather. Some extra watering would make them much more enjoyable to play from. Greens: Clearly being looked after, but they are a little spongy and there’s some visible crow damage. At present, I don’t feel a £1000 annual membership is justified, especially with the extra joining fee! I’d say green fees around £17–£20 would be fair given the condition. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience much more enjoyable. I would definitely return. The layout is fairly enjoyable, and with some additional TLC this course could easily become a top choice in the area. What a beautiful corse to play nice open fairways beautiful views and big credit to the ground green keepers for doing a fantastic job maintaining the greens would recommend to anyone to play if you are in the area ⛳️⛳️ The Academy course was pretty good, I have not played for around 15-20 years and thoroughly enjoyed my round. I shot a crowd pleasing 91 over 18 holes which were the best I have played in 15-20 years. I do however have 1 issue , whoever is destroying the first hole with range balls is harming the golf club. If you enjoy golf as much as I am enjoying it again, then think about other players. The first green is shocking and I doubt the ground staff can sort this out, tbh the moon has less craters, if you want to par the first then hope for a hole in one, it will bounce out and you might be able to 2 putt it. Other than that, the staff were amazing, the course was challenging, for me, but I enjoyed my round so much. Looking forward to my next round this week, I hope to beat 91, but to be totally honest I am just glad to be playing again.
