Nice sports centre had a mini comic con arranged by local shop trader 16th November A great council facility that has a fantastic range of gym equipment after it's refurbishment although sadly not digitally linked to your individual workout on your membership card. I lack confidence in the trainer's on the gym floor when it comes to their ability to tailor training to an individuals needs. There are pools, sports courts and a range of classes. The Wood Bar coffee shop is very and has a nice seating and work space. My huge criticism of the main facility however is cleanliness, particularly in the large public seating area. It really is disgustingly filthy! The fabric seats, sofas and footstools are so dirty, as are the plastic chairs. The whole is in need of a deep clean and regular maintenance. Another one star review for the ridiculous booking system and swimming as a whole. Went with my five year old daughter, wanted to go in the teaching at first then beach as a treat. Apparently you need to book one or the other. I asked if you could move between and at reception they said that would be OK if it wasn't busy. Oh no, got in to the and the managing life guard had none of it. Said the teaching would be dangerous if too many people (there was one family of three). Wouldn't let me go in it. Then rudely said she is going to stop wasting talking to me. I understand if the was busy, but it had a maximum of three people in the whole session, and at one point was empty so they shut it. She did say we could go in the big pool, despite my daughter being a non swimmer. So we stayed in the beach pool, which was cold. The changing rooms were dirty, and broken toilet roll dispensers in the gents, so toilet roll all over the floor. Another family with elderly lady and small kids got in towards the end of the session, and told it was five minutes too early and they had to sit on the bench (wet). Ridiculous. You'd be treated better in prison I expect. Profit above all else! It’s disappointing how much 5 Rivers has changed. It used to offer value, but now it seems profit has taken priority over customers. Swimming sessions are limited to 1 hour 15 minutes which is too short given the cost for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children). Previously, you could use both the Teaching and Beach pools during a session, but now you must book one or the other, with no option to switch mid way should your children want to swap. The lifeguard suggested booking both pools at the same to move between them, doubling the cost for the same amount of time. What a stupid suggestion. The number of customers disputing this change (both poolside and at reception) should make it clear that this system isn’t working. The online booking process is also floored, it took 3 attempts for payment to go through, despite using the same card each time. Facilities-wise, the updated gym and sauna is fantastic, making it a place to workout. I’ve been using the student discount for the holidays which has been super useful and the £1 lockers and showers are great if I need to go directly to work afterwards. Ultimately will never be as well-equipped as Puregym however, and can get pretty busy inside due to the size of the gym. Better for me as it is on the closer side of Salisbury and there are bike routes all around it. Have heard lots about the workers here not being and would like to clarify that on the whole they’ve been great, but all it takes is a bad interaction to ruin a visit. If you find yourself being told you can’t do or buy something or other either speak to someone else or come back on a different day. Additionally, they use a very dated online/offline system for bookings and payments so that’s something else to be aware of. Impossible to get hold of anyone - often don't answer the phone, don't reply to emails and then when you do speak to someone they tell you to resend an email you've already sent three times......(Tried to look at booking to support Olympic performance pathway activity for local young athletes) On the bright side my young children do love the beach pool.... But it is really unclean and the showers and changing rooms are in need of a big refresh Brilliant place. Love going there to try & keep fit & also have made some great friends . Trainers are amazing especially Justin, Nick & Kathy . Thank you . We attended five rivers leisure centre for a swimming party at the weekend, it was absolutely lovely. The whole place was actually quite quiet and the kids had a great time. The facilities were lovely and clean and everything looked like it had been well looked after! No complaints here 😊 Really grateful that some of the reception staff work improve their friendliness please. It's only 2/3 (older) members of staff, and certainly not all. However, I note that it's a continuing theme within poor reviews. The booking system is also unfunctional. For an otherwise generally leisure centre, the lack of friendliness particularly really mars the experience. It's a really simple thing to fix. Please change this Fiver Rivers! Another typical day at 5 Rivers - entry door to gym opens without the need for a pass (on and off for at least 1.5 years); can’t lock locker; sauna doesn’t work (hasn’t been the right temperature for several weeks); enforced cold showers (nearly 2 weeks); broken shower (a few weeks but was out of action for over 8 months. It was fixed but broke again quickly); broken equipment. The most expensive gym in the and the worst maintained. Members are not getting what they pay for. 08/11/2025 08:00 - You can just walk into the gym off the street now as they have given up trying to fix the entry system on the gym door (1980s tech) so it’s always open. The sauna is so hit and miss that I barely consider it now. It works now apparently, but the person in charge couldn’t be bothered to turn it on, deciding that sitting on reception and staring into space was a better use of their time. No matter what I ring I can never get through to speak to someone! Having tried several times previously, without success, I rang yesterday and was told ‘A member of the team will be with you shortly’. After several minutes of escalator music I had the message there was no one available to take my call. I rang again later, this I had a voicemail to leave my name and number and someone would call me back. I declined this offer. I tried again today, different time. Again I was told ‘A member of the team will be with you shortly’. After 4 minutes of silence, not even the drivel of escalator music this time, I was told no one could take my call. I rang again later. This it went straight to voicemail advising no one could take my call and to leave my name and number. The water temperature was so cold our kids lips turned blue after 30min. The air temp was no better. Spoke to a local family who had brought their kid down in a wetsuit as it’s been cold recently! Clearly an on going issue. Saw a few people complaining about the water temperature. Also seem to have changed the rules, last we came here a couple years ago you could use beach and teaching for the same cost and for an undefined scale, now limited to one and 1h 15min for a higher cost.
