It's a great joy how they have developed this field into a wonderful place to visit with the family. It has a really big playground, which many climbing areas, swings, table tennis. It has a basketball court/football court. Has excise equipment. Pletty of space for dog walking, running. He has a really cafe in the middle. Pletty of parking. Good for walking trails to. Amazing play park! Spent 3 hours there with our friends and their kids. The Pip cafe has food, seats and toilets so everything you need. It is a beautiful area and lovely for a walk too. Much of the fitness and play removed or in need of servicing, but otherwise a for younglings. Always a queue for the toilets, which aren't overly pleasant on a busy day. Various key pieces of are broken and out of commission, leading to disappointment. Not well kept at all. Little pebbles instead of rubber or wood chipping so avoid wearing sandals or Crocs. Great park, could of spent hours here. Perfect for a picnic. Lots to do for the kids Attended the Farmers and Craft Market on The Great Field at Poundbury. A gathering of local vendors selling wholesome produce. This event was postponed from the day before because is Storm Antoni. Despite that turnout of vendors and punters was good. A bigger space for the musicians where people could sit and appreciate would have been better than having them under a small gazebo in the ‘shopping street’. Nice event though. What a Lovely space. The is beautiful, well maintained, clean, bins are dotted around, the field is large enough for the kids to have a run around (whilst chasing birds) and because it's in somewhat of a dip, it feels easier to contain the kids. There is some accessible equipment, a communication board (love), and the is great for all ages. The use of stones isn't sandal friendly, but because they are thickly scattered actually provides somewhat of a cushioned landing for the kids. My son loved the stones! There are also exercise machines scattered around the edges of the field, which has goal posts and a cricket strip. The PIP cafe is lovely, Staff is friendly and so helpful. Lovely place. Looks impressive but we have found that that there is very little to do for younger children (under 5). The small stones used for ‘flooring’ get into shoes so I was forever emptying them! Definitely wear trainers and not sandals of any description. Children also put the stones onto the smaller climbing too. Not wheelchair or pushchair friendly, in my opinion. It is a shame it was not planned by someone with some understanding of small children - then it could have been amazing! When it first opened there was a lovely water feature but children threw the stones into it and messed up the system; I haven’t seen it working since about a month after the opened. Having said that - if you have children of 5/6 and up, then there is quite a lot to play on.
