Brilliant house,the volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable, about all of and it's history. The was so beautiful ,so relaxing, just to sit and take everything in Lovely site thats worth a for anyone who's nearby be it on holiday or visiting for any other reason. The staff were helpful and informative. Lovely views and things to see around the site. We arrived on a extremely wet day were even a few seconds outside you was soaked. Shame we didn't get to do the woodland walk or the play area but the building was lovely and passed a couple hours for us. Main entrance is not down the small country road but actually on the B3082. Don't make my mistake aha woops. We go here regularly. I love the and history. Grounds are good for walking. Food is one of the best for a national trust property Enormous estate, miles and miles of hiking and walking around it. Not that much in the way of gardens, but there's a beautiful little jewel of a Japanese garden and acres of azaleas all in different colours, as well as the very impressive house. A really relaxing place to wander around and enjoy the beautiful gardens. If you want a tour of the gardens, there's a history tour or horticultural tour. All the staff are very knowledgeable and are well versed in all aspects of the property and open to any questions you may have. The café is very nice with seating inside or outside, there are toilets as well. We spent 4 and half hours there and could have spent longer. The Japanese garden was so full of colour, I look forward to coming again in the summer and autumn We thougherly enjoyed our visit, is great, lovely, and the staff are very knowledgeable, good parking and nice cafe. Another beautiful property that is being lovingly cared for by the National Trust. There is plenty of car parking space, a short walk from the entrance. On the day we attended, the Trust was renovating the toilet block in the Stable café area, but there were plenty of very nice temporary toilets available. The grounds of the estate are magnificent, so open and spacious you can’t but help feel relaxed. Inside the is a multitude of impressive rooms, the is a little bit of a TARDIS, as it seems much bigger on the inside and seems to go on forever. The ceiling decorations a are stunning and do ask the volunteers to explain how one contains a painting that had the paint removed from a plaster work fresco in Bologna, and transferred “intact” to canvas that now hangs from one of the ceilings. Also look out for the carving in lime wood of da Vinci’s “The Last Supper”, simply amazing detail. Take a walk through the Japanese garden to reach the kitchen garden then come back and see if you can find the 3,000 year old Egyptian sarcophagus. Then move on to stables café which is well stocked with goodies and obviously the obligatory cream tea. A great place to for the whole family. One of the most beautiful locations I’ve ever visited. Beautiful architecture and landscape. Also great cafe too! When the weather was looking unsettled, we were looking for somewhere to whilst on holiday. Taking advantage of our membership, we decided on Kingston Lacy. We had no idea our would be so enjoyable! The was full open, right up to the attic rooms where was amazing. Then after some lunch inside the stable cafe we ventured back out into the garden's. Duckling fortunately inside between a few showers, we were blown away by the Silent space and Japanese Garden's before finishing off with the journey down to the Kitchen garden. From the lovely lady in the makeshift entrance, to all the volunteer guides inside the house. All were very pleasant and made the day with their knowledge. Thank you Great place to visit. It will took you 2-3 hours to walk around and enjoy the area and I would like to the place again on my next trip Pros: Stunning and gardens, peaceful estate walks, immaculate grounds, great café, very well run.
