A really nice little restaurant, very popular and rightly so. beer selection and choice of dishes for the menu de jour. We like it here. Simple and honest food and very tasty too. We'll be back!! A lovely restaurant but a little complicated with my gluten intolerance. Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. Lovely who spoke English( which was a bonus). Lovely food. So, having booked a table a couple if weeks ago was looking forward to it, especially having read reviews about the food and the staff. The food was excellent,and value. However, the service was poor. I would have marked it as three stars but we felt that maybe they had been let down by a member of staff. The there on the particular evening were very harassed, seemed to ignore us and quite rude. Even having booked we had to wait around an hour, and then orders were mixed up. At one point the chef had to help wait at tables. If it wasn't for the fact that the food was excellent we wouldn't return, but as it's so we will be giving them another go in a couple of weeks. Only hope that the service is better because we have recommended it as the venue for for a celebration dinner with friends. A lovely restaurant/bar on the main road; always popular with locals and visitors. A well priced lunch menu that changes often. I recommend making a reservation for lunch if possible as this place fills up quickly, especially on sunny days where you can enjoy your meal on the terrace with a lovely view of the abbatiale. A few more smiles from the (obviously hardworking) is my only negative critique. Charming and welcoming waiting and a lunchtime menu. The location is excellent with a superb view of the abbey church and easy parking. Chambon-sur-Voueize is a little gem and well worth a visit or detour and Au Bistrot d'Autrefois was a great choice for us on this stopover. Lovely place. and food were amazing.
