Especially Friday is a strange day to be closed if you are open 5 days a week, then Monday and Tuesday are more likely to be closed days. So probably I’m not the only one arriving at a closed site on a Friday. The forest area around it is beautiful and itself sufficiently worth the trip here for walking and cycling. Best pancakes we've had for ages! The special (sugar and cream) and kids pancakes went down very well. Would highly recommend during a walk in the lovely forest. Nostalgische uitstraling,na een wandel of fietstocht is het aangenaam vertoeven. Beautiful vibe here. Amid the wide forest, this is a mandatory stop for locals and tourists alike. A wide terrace enclosed by the old farm-like house is a great way to end an invigorating walk with your friends or family (or dog!). Things to note: there’s no WiFi or 5G here (or almost none), making payments by phone impossible. Bring cash or card. The forests are often tick-infested, maybe use your time here to check yourself- the servers and owner are professionals at removing them for you (I’m not kidding). The beers are beautiful and local, snacks and cakes delicious. We stopped by during our walk, first went through a free "pottery & clay" exhibition with creative and beautiful items on display, then bought ice-cream for the kids. We only had one card which only pays wireless but the cashier was reluctant to try wireless tap payment coz sometimes it didn't work. Also coz there's no internet, we couldn't pay by phone. Luckily the wireless payment worked and the cashier was happy but also unhappy that she had to restart/setup the payment machine once more. So make sure you have some cash with you. The sitting area was full, an indication of how popular the cafe is. A tranquil oasis in the hustle and bustle of de Meetjesland. When I went this was a very quiet place with quite some history behind it. There is a place where children can play in the forest close by. Self service, reasonable price. Erg mooi niet gedronken daar of gegeten Mooie bossen en in de oude hoeve leer je veel, Over de Norbertijnen, op bezoek in de streek en in een andere schuur over de Scheldes en hun waterwerken...Boeiend! Always a great place to sit and break up a forest walk Great place to take a walk in the nature and relax after with drinks and refreshments at the Café. Always check Café opening hours. Vriendelijke bediening en attent naar honden toe 👍 Super Nice:) It is a cozy place for a pancake in the woods. Coffee and tea. Alcohol 🍻 available. OK prijs/kwaliteit. Topgastvrouw. Voor de huisbaas, de provincie vermoed ik: Sanitair is geen beschermd erfgoed, dus mag eens gemoderniseerd worden, niet onbelangrijk voor het merendeel van de etende gasten.
