A must to see if you want to learn about China ware production We visited the Porzellanikon museum, which is the Bavarian State for Porcelain, on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised by the low ticket price of only 1 euro. The is located in two former factories, one in Selb and one in Hohenberg an der Eger, and it covers the history and production of in Germany and Europe. We were amazed by the variety and quality of the exhibits, ranging from historical pieces to modern designs. We also learned a lot about the production cycle of porcelain, from the raw materials to the final decoration. The has a lot of interesting machines, mold forms, kilns, and tools that show how is made and shaped. The also has special exhibitions that focus on toilets. The is very informative and comprehensive, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in or ceramics. SCHOEN Unser Besuch mit unseren Kindern im Porzellanikon Selb war toll. Die Ausstellung ist informativ, aber die Mitmachstationen für unsere Kinder waren das absolute Highlight! Unsere Kleinen waren begeistert vom Anfassen und Ausprobieren. Das ist sehr kinderfreundlich gestaltet und bietet eine tolle Möglichkeit, spielerisch etwas über Porzellan zu lernen. Ein idealer Ausflug für Familien, bei dem sowohl Eltern als auch Kinder auf ihre Kosten kommen. It’s only shame all the tours are in German only. This was a really fantastic experience. All the staff were super friendly and the exhibits were really interesting. The live demo of making was amazing. The restaurant was also great- lovely seasonal and fresh food. Would highly recommend this as a day trip from Leipzig if you are interested in design and porcelain.
