First of all a few details that might influence this review: we were the only guests, no other apartments were booked. Also mid-March is not really tourist season. The complex is wonderful. A historic building, properly and neatly modernised to comfortable apartments. A pool, granted: smaller than olympic size, but good and deep enough (estimated between 80cm and 1.70m). Next to the is a nice sauna. The apartment is advertised for six persons. There are seven beds, in three bedrooms. The entire apartment has floor heating and floor tiles. The size of the apartment is .. well .. a living room of at least 60 sq m, bedrooms around 20 sq m each, and then there's the bathroom and the toilets. All in all, halls included, I'd estimate well over 150 sq m and that is typically more than sufficient for six adults. Complete? definitely yes. Besides two furnaces, with ovens, (electric), also two fridges (six people, remember?), dish washer and a kitchen inventory that'll easily support a hungry football team (ok .. five or six would sit on a barstool, at the bar, others at the table). Internet is available, over wifi. Now here's a bit of an issue: the wifi signal doesn't span the entire apartment (size does matter). In one bedroom and in the bathroom (yeah right) there's no wifi signal measurable. On the other side of the apartment, near the windows overlooking the courtyard, wifi will support video conferencing: video and presenting. Note that this might be different if several other guests share the same internet connection, I honestly wouldn't know. The owner of the accommodation is brilliant: helpful when he can, living a few hundred metres down the road. Multilingual, and in general a friendly man. What more is there to say .. would I recommend a stay here? yes, absolutely. Will we return? quite likely, yes. Nice and well maintained, the location offers several interesting options, definitely recommend for families: the indoor swimming is not huge for adults but perfect for kids, the green area around it is a great place for kids to run, play, discover, with a good degree of safety. For adults though it might be disappointing not to have any walking path nearby: you are surrounded by roads and have to walk a while before getting in some not amazing paths. If you are looking for that, perhaps another location would suit you better. If you are looking for a relaxing stay while kids consume their energy around, this location is perfect instead. Mind that network coverage is really poor in the area, you will often be completely disconnected. WiFi coverage is good, though we did have problems when trying to telework in 2-3 at the same time. We loved the location of the château, lots of walking trails, near Bastogne, and easily accessible. The gîtes are well-supplied, nicely heated, and cosy. The and sauna are a luxurious plus! The owner is very friendly and helpful. All in all it was an excellent spot and I'd highly recommend it for groups of friends or families! Perfect place for family vacations. we had a lovely time and will be back in the future! Wifi connection was not that good in every chamber (april 2019). An extra wifi access point to cover the common place would not hurt. Loved our stay here very quiet and relaxing. Lots of space for larger groups. Not really meant for groups of youngsters (like us) but we had a great time, and the owners are very forth coming. Ps. Nice and sauna. Great location for a weekend with friends, family and kids! Swimming a bit cold. The Chateau De Laval is an excellent place to stay. Very calm and peaceful, and ideal for touring the beautiful Ardennes countryside.
