Dog and with mostly staff. The beer is standard Marsden fare. The food however was terrible; burnt, dry, gristly. I wouldn't visiting for anything other than a drink and then only if you like the more old fashioned beers. Typical pub food, reasonably priced. were and friendly. Beautiful setting by the canal. Dog areas. Had a stop here last night in our campervan - stop over free when you eat/drink in the pub. Food was great, lots of options, good, lovely, and it felt like the pub was a home for the community which felt nice. Will visit again for sure. Any motorhomes or campervans see parking info, plus you need to book ahead. A nice canalside pub with a wonderful outside setting for the summer. Inside will be a little dated for some, but it's cosy and homely with a choice of and the widest range of af I've seen anywhere. Also dog friendly. Food is traditional pub grub. Not the best, but certainly not the worst I've had either. Perfectly adequate quality and very reasonably priced. Staff are and service is good. Overall a honest traditional pub in a location. Pass this place all the time and thought I’d pop in with my daughter who’s fussy and 15! It’s a little place, got in no problem, the food was absolutely amazing and not too badly priced, they do do vouchers and I did have one but was unable to use it as the food I ordered wasn’t on the mains menu. There is a selection of food and all that I saw come past me looked and smelled amazing. We only had to wait about 20 minutes for the food to arrive, my daughter had scampi and chips and I did ask for no tartare sauce but it still came with it (no big issue as it was in a little pot) and I had a Philly steak baguette with onions and both dishes came with fries. Absolutely amazing, food red hot and a amount to say it came off the lunch menu. My daughter loved her scampi and fries and peas - which I was happy about and I loved mine also. So why the 4 stars and not 5? The lacked something. I’m not sure if they were understaffed or not but they didn’t have time to talk to ANYBODY, not me, not an old guy who asked for a half of his favourite. The were constantly on the move (probably not their fault) and even when me and my daughter left we didn’t even get a ‘goodbye’ or ‘Thankyou’ which you’d normally receive from other restaurants or bars or any shop that sells something. It wouldn’t put me off going again and I’d highly it but can’t give it 5 stars and rank it with my other favourite 5 star restaurants. *also a little out the back with narrow boats moored up, very pretty. location and atmosphere outside. Going inside nicely laid out seating areas without seeming sitting on top of one another. Nice selection of beers and looked appealing. Had the Rump steak cooked perfectly for me whilst partner had traditional fish and chips which was tasting. Overall pleasant experience and would call again. We were staying in our boat and visited with my brother in law. The food was value and tasty. The service was very and were very friendly. It’s dog too. Definitely Pretty food at reasonable prices. I had the scampi and chips. My wife had the "small plate" Hunter's Chicken lunch deal. Food came quickly and plates were hot, which was good. value lunch in a outdoor area by the canal! Super location with stunning views. and pub food at a really price. Will definitely be back. Ace to be able to park the camper on the car park too. Such a bonus. pub next to the canal. cozy atmosphere and easy to order via the QR on each table. Food was delicious 🤤 can't fault it Food was especially the chicken platter. Some of the best wings iv tasted in a long time, servicewas and the place had a warm atmosphere. Would highly recommend. very attentive. I will be coming back regularly in the future! 5 star review I had a tasty gammon steak with two fried eggs. The coffee is filter style. I thought the atmosphere could have benefitted if there had been fewer dogs, but the ample parking areas are adjacent to a and a wooded area with paths, so dog owners will only be encouraged. Plenty of outdoor seating also. A very felicitous location. I would highly We stopped over at Broughton Arms to break our journey from the Lake District. The were really friendly, the building warm and welcoming and the food selection amazing and value. It is so refreshing to see sharer plates on a menu, and is always a favourite of ours. The locals equally made us at home, which is much appreciated. And of course the setting on the is outstanding. Thanks for a evening! From walking into the pub with a warm feeling, Beautifully decorated for the festive season and cosy without being crushed. The decorations are stunning and very welcoming indeed. Myself and 2 guests were shown to our reserverved table and allowed to read the without feeling rushed. Having decided on what we wanted to eat, myself and 1 guest went to the bar to order, she for the drinks, and myself for the meal. There were a few others at the bar but we didn't have to wait to be served and again felt welcomed. The bar were helpful and able to exchange a little conversation, which is nice compared to places where bar can be a little aloof and reluctant to smile in some, not here though. I had asked that the fish of one of the meals be well cooked and we were asked which vegetable we wanted. We were back at the table and having a old chin wag, and the meal came for the 3 of us piping hot and on hot plates. Sadly, this is something a lot of pubs and restaurants forget about, and hot food chills down very quickly. Not so at the Broughton Arms, the plates are always hot! The fish which was well cooked was lovely, it was mine, and I really dislike wet fish, this was beautiful and the batter light and crispy, my guests were very pleased with their meals and have said they will certainly come back again. After finishing our meal, the assistant came and cleared our plates away and again was able to exchange pleasantries about the snow which had fallen the night previously. We sat there for about a further 10 minutes and then went to pay. The again were very helpful and wished us well, and hoped to see us again. I can say that The Broughton Arms will certainly see us again! Thank you for a meal and the welcome. 10/10 and a gold star! A old fashioned pub, family favourite for year's. and very friendly, nice atmosphere and yummy food at prices. Nice food ales Went yesterday, had to queue for about 10 minutes to order food. They were missing items from the menu, so I ordered a different starter. When the food arrived, it was obvious that it was a cheap supermarket product that had been fried to within an inch of its life. 4 cheese melts for £5.95. We have had really food here before, so it was disappointing. were very and accommodating, happy to help and the food was delicious. Whole family loved the evening and were really happy with the service. Thank you First time visiting the Broughton Arms, I had received a food and drink discount voucher through the post so thought I'd give it a try. There was 5 of us all together and we all really enjoyed our experience and all agreed we would return. The pub had a welcoming atmosphere and was surprisingly busy for a mid week visit which all added to the ambience. were and attentive, the food was better than perhaps we had anticipated and due to the time of year the pub was festively decorated. It was just a vibe and I can imagine it would be in summer due to the large beer garden and setting. The had changed so drastically since I last visited the pub, many moons ago. The food was steaming hot and cooked perfectly, the were perfect with my Strongbow Dark Fruits not being too fizzy or frothy. Will definitely have to go back again soon! We arrived mid afternoon in our Motorhome with plans to eat in the pub and stay in the car park overnight. The were very accommodating and said it was no problem for us to do this. We had a light lunch and in the afternoon then returned in the evening for dinner at a table I had booked a few days prior to our visit. The food was fantastic and the service was first class. Will definitely return if in the area again We were offered our reserved table plus another one because we had 2 dogs with us. The bar on arrival were very helpful and friendly. Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. service especially when busy. Popped into this pub this afternoon for some food. I am gluten free and find it difficult to eat out sometimes. I asked behind the bar if they had a and they provided me with one, showed me the allergy on my phone and spoke through what I can have and if I wanted a Sunday roast they would be able to make me one. It made me feel really reassured and it was to not have to worry. The is very with lots of options and Alex and Gina were so welcoming and helpful. Will 100% come back again.
