Was in the area and paid the Crook O Lune a visit today. On entering there are two car parks, a hut selling snacks and benches, some of which overlook the river. On a warm summer's day, as was today, this is a great location to walk along the river, dog walk, walk through woodlands or sit and be surrounded by nature. The path down to the (from the car parks and area) is narrow and declines. This could be unsuitable for disabled people or those in wheelchairs etc. The car is pay and display, however currently the machines are out of order. A beautiful location which I would recommend for relaxing and countryside views. Good walks from site ,plenty of benches , take a waterproof sheet to sit on seats a bit green and damp when we went A quick trip on our holiday trip; did not use the area or facilities, only a driving break to the car which is in two parts, the second beyond the height restriction barrier. The photos submitted are of the old railway line and bridge which has fantastic views. A word of caution is the blind bend when turning right into the car and the risk from fast traffic approaching. A very nice spot to enjoy a on a sunny day. Its a public park, free of charge (not sure if the parking is free, tough). During summer people use to swim here since the water is clean and shallow. Just beware of the rocks under your feet (best to go with sneakers). There is no restaurant nearby, so bring your own food and drinks. You can also get here by bus or car, but we came on foot - its a nice path by the Lune from the city of Lancaster (about an hour of easy trekking). Don't forget your hats and sunblock! It's a dog and kids' friendly place. Hnit: the further you go, more privacy you get. Under the bridge is usually packed. My first time to walk an entire place like this. The beauty of nature is very much showcased here. We had a little afterwards, relaxing and truly enjoyable Good place to park, £1 for the day. The walks are here are fun, picturesque scenery and not too many people around even on a busy days. There are so many routes to take. It's clean & tidy there are toilets and a cafe that has out side seating. Note it's cash only. The views of the are stunning and is the starting point for several local walks. There is also a footpath that keeps you off the road to the local village which has a couple of pubs and shops. I would recomend the Ship Inn for lunch. Lovely little cafe at car and with attached toilets. Sausage butty for me and a sausage for my Monty £4.10 . Lady kindly filled up the water bowl for Monty and cut his sausage to cool Beautiful location with stunning views across the and surrounding country side. The car is not huge but it's only £1 to all day and free after 5pm. There is a nice cafe there on a Saturday and through the holidays with a decent brew and bacon barm on offer at a reasonable price. Toilets are basic but clean and serviceable. I haven't seen a baby change unit there though. Good access to the and some really stunning walks with decent paths for prams and cycles. It's a lovely place and we'll worth a visit. What a stunning place, the area is a gem of a place to stop off and soak up the beauty of the majestic landscape before you head off to explore the banks and park. The scenery is beautiful whatever the weather, highly recommended!
