A fantastic monument to those fallen in the first World War. I cannot imagine what went in this valley to have caused so many deaths! Memorial dedicated to the fallen soldiers of World War I. The bones of over 5.400 Italian soldiers and 40 Austro-Hungarian soldiers are kept inside. Interesting museum and stunning view of the surrounding valley Unfortunately it closes on Mondays so we couldn't enter the Ossuary but it looked beautiful from outside. The drive up the mountain is an adventure itself, as the road is very curvy and steep, but very safe and well signaled. Amazing location and views. However, still such a sad place. Filled with the bones (which you can see & touch) of 5000 mostly kids who died, were killed 100 years ago on the mountain above, extremely well maintained. It was built less than 10 years after the end of the war. It helps put our whiny little problems in perspective. Loved the place, full of history and around it some breath taking views not to mention you have so much to explore around it... Funeral monument for WWI dead soldiers, rich of history, really touching. It is a landmark for Italian soldiers memory, it has to be seen. Apart the inner meaning of it, the ossario it is also a very nice structure, very fascinating and excellent to take pictures. All the old cannons outside the building make you feel even better the suggestive atmosphere.
