Lovely pub, fantastic carvery, staff. Busy at bar, ordered via website which was very efficient. Service good. Bit hot in main eating area but nice beer garden to eat in outside with a small playground for kids. Food was reasonably priced and good portion size and pretty good. What a lovely little gem in the East Midlands! The food is amazing - a scrumptious burger and to die for lasagne! The chips are fresh and crispy, and there’s a selection of beers. What more could one ask for!? Hugely disappointed. Came in and we were shown to a table. We asked about ordering food and were told “it’s all at the bar” it was a day but we didn’t want so we clarified, can we order food? have you menus? “It’s all at the bar” was repeated. So we fetched the menus! Not a start but the guys at the (too close to our table but the pub was busy) seemed really friendly and helpful so we didn’t want to jump the gun. In the end some of the party did go for carvery The Yorkshire puddings were so dry and crispy (even though coming out fresh) absolutely awful. Didn’t even taste like Yorkshire. More like burnt fried toast. The mushroom wellington was just sloppy mush, the stuffing balls were like dry sage and onion falafels. Gravy was very watery My son was asked of he wanted cackling.. 1inch ! Won’t be coming back. Thanks Anyway Absolutely beautiful place. Out in the countryside. A lovely chilled atmosphere and the bar staff are very polite and welcoming. Wel 100 percent be coming back. The prices are very affordable and the food was AMAZING!! Fantastic place, we stopped on our way home from market harborough. Thought it must be good when we arrived and saw the car park full. menu of home made food and wow what prices. We will definitely be back even though we live 45 minutes away. Came for lunch, such a nice chilled out place, find a table, order at the bar - easy. Very cosy and private places to sit. Food spot on and fairly priced. Definitely visit again soon. Probably our favourite pub for eating out. It’s really hard to fault anything in our experience. We usually go to on Wednesdays when it’s a little cheaper because roast beef is not served. But even on Sunday it’s still excellent value and quality both days. Self-service vegetable selection is also excellent. Even if you don’t want carvery, other meal options are also quality home made with fresh vegetables depending on what you choose. If you’re a beer drinker, they serve several hand-pulled draught ales, as well as Clarkson’s Hawkstone lager and other draft lagers.
