I found an old guide in a charity shop when planning our Lake District trip and I’m so glad we visited. It’s huge! Really impressive and guides in ten languages, lots to see and buy in the shop which is very well stocked. Wonderfully peaceful and restive as you’d expect from a working (chaps please remove headgear when entering). A lot to look see in terms. of architectural features and there is a real wow factor about coming in and seeing the huge east window. The misericords are interesting and it is a very atmospheric building. Super small Priory, with beautiful architecture and windows, and some very old artefacts. The tomb covers on the floor are also well worth reading, interesting and quite evocative. Well worth a visit, free entry, but it would be rather rude not to leave a donation.
