Great job today guys... Thanks for looking after me while I was on site. 👍🙂 (D) Attended yesterday in a group of 21. They were under staffed 2 on the bar 1 in the and were told that maybe up to an hour and a half was the place was so busy. Not a spair seat in the place. They did an amazing job. Food was no more than 30 minutes and was perfect. They 2 lady's kept up with everything. Someone was at the bar, and they got served. Someone finished at a table, and it was cleared and cleaned. The 2 female had smiles despite being clearly under pressure but made everyone feel welcome and check all was ok. I really do not know how they both managed to stay in spirits with a non-stop roll off people food and drinks. I can only imagine they are the dream team. Well done, ladies, and well done, chef, everything was perfect. place to eat. Food was delicious. was outstanding with extra care. Food for 6 of us was delivered quickly. Great place to be back. Staff was and polite. We were here late Sat afternoon. Food was perfectly timed , thanks Nat !! atmosphere too. Value for money was really high here. I certainly did not expect a mixed salad with slaw and dressing nor did I expect fresh herbs chili onion etc garnish on the chicken for what we paid. We would definitely visit again. Thanks guys job atmosphere, and food. Very accommodating 12 of us dining and all food hot and out at the same time. Drink very reasonable too. We live in Donegal and always make time for a visit here when we are over. Comfort Food with a Side of “Could’ve Been Better” Tucked away in Kettering’s quieter corners, The Briars is your quintessential English pub, low-key, warm, and inviting without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place you’d instinctively drift into on a drizzly Tuesday, which is exactly what we did. Atmosphere The vibe inside was mellow, with no noisy crowds, no blaring music, just the hum of casual conversation and the clink of cutlery. It’s a relaxed setting, perfect for a midweek family bite. Food We ordered a few pub staples, nothing ambitious, but done right. The kids’ came as chicken dippers with waffles and corn on the cob, a classic combo that went down well. As for the adults, I went for the Honey Clucker Chicken Burger, a crispy chicken fillet glazed in sweet honey, served in a decent bun with the usual trimmings. The flavour was solid, no fireworks, but hearty and satisfying. Portion sizes were good, and everything came out hot. Service Now for the elephant in the room, the service. While the bar were pleasant enough, there was a bit of a sting when we realised, after ordering and paying, that kids eat for £1 Monday to Friday. Since it was Tuesday, this should’ve been flagged. Instead, we were charged full price. It’s a small thing, but in hospitality, these details matter. It left a bit of a bad taste, and not the edible kind. Verdict Would I go back? Yes, the food hits the mark, and the venue is peaceful and family-friendly. But a little more attentiveness from the could easily turn a into a experience. Our go to food establishment for celebrations. Enjoyed a 70th birthday Sunday lunch with a group of visually impaired and disabled friends. The manager was superb and got us seated quickly even though the pub was expecting a hoard of netballers! The food, as always, was superb and served very promptly. We were extremely grateful that the mix up with our discount voucher was speedily rectified. We LOVE the Briars. We have been here 3 times recently, one of our party has mobility problems and The Briers is fairly accessible (there are three small steps up to the main dining area) Each time the has been lovely and the friendly. It does get busy at times, so book up if you can. The young lad behind the bar was so helpful when I went here with a customer, abs can't fault the from him. No name badge so not sure what his name was but would highly recommend this place on his excellent hosting skills alone. Such a shame they're stopping serving the curly fries Brought a friend yesterday for a lunch treat and was amazed at the here, top makes for the chef working. The menu is full of different ultimate plates which are such value for money and the plates were massive! The upon arrival were very and helpful. Will soon be returning for another visit with all the family 😌 Went this evening 14/1/2025 had a fantastic host Matt even tho we waited longer for our food as there was 2 tables with 20 people Matt was so busy serving there food (and others) he made time for us both letting us know how long our food was going to be all I can say he went above and bejond this evening for us and others what a asset he is to the briars pub Thankyou Matt we enjoyed our and how you coped at such a busy evening and treated my husband and myself fab ty Matt The food at the Briars as turned from a cheap convenience to a pleasurable experience, the food comes well cooked and presented, A clear sign that the current chefs enjoy there job and want to please the customers. The both in the evening and lunch time always greet you with a smile . A front of house experience. This is a reflection of the management team , who are both concerned that everything is ok with the food , drink and that you receive. A real pleasurable place to go now keep it up. Really lunch - atmosphere was vibey and fun despite it being rammed. Food was and surprisingly efficient considering the must have been hectic. Well done to all the for keeping their cool and turning out food under pressure! Came here yesterday with my two young children, food was outstanding and served piping hot! 100% recommend the chicken skewers, both children finished there plates.. top marks to the chef. Very family friendly, welcoming and overall all a clean warm pub. were extremely and attentive to all needs. Will definitely be returning! Very service Food was great! And affordable. Would 100% come again for a lovely meal I recommend to everyone local pub with atmosphere snd food. are amazing and go that extra mile to keep customers happy. Ali in particular works her socks off and is always and has a attitude. I have been coming with my dad for over five years. Excellent staff. food. And the lady in charge. Not the manager. But the lady in charge she is amazing credit to the pub. We have the same thing every week. And today she had the drinks ready, as she saw us walk through the door. Thanks again for a at a price.
