We went for a Sunday lunch in the week prior to Christmas, there were 4 of us and we ordered 2 of the 2 person sharing roasts, and we were not disappointed. The food was cooked beautifully, and was incredibly tasty, our server unfortunately I didn’t get her name, but she was fantastic, and is a credit to this pub. The food was reasonably priced, and there was loads of it, portion sizes are very generous Excellent find when looking for somewhere to eat and avoiding the closed A14. I imagine it can get very busy in the summer with a large outdoor area of seating. The food was really good, including the Black Forest pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. We will be back. We had a really meal, very impressed with the quality of the food and the amount of choice for vegetarian and vegan options. Good, and reasonably priced wine too. Staff were very and helpful. Quality decor a bonus. Can't wait to eat here again 😋 Excellent service, and really and helpful staff. Food was really nice as well with very large portions! Wheelchair accessible for the bar section where you can also order food. A couple of steps to access the restaurant section. Enjoyed a meal here on what was also a busy Friday night. The staff were and the was quick as well. Family meal out on Saturday 26th October (party of 8). Parking not too bad but dont forget to register your number plate as soon as you go in or you will get a fine. outside seating areas and nice and clean. The pub has a nice local atmosphere and is warm and receiving. Drink prices a little high for me, one glass of large wine is £9 !! I had a pint and my wife a mailbu and coke was £10. Restaurant area is cosy and the staff are and especially, the young lad with glasses (David?) who went above and beyond and is an asset. Okay the food, starters which we didnt have looked nice, my sister had the Prawns Pil Pil which she said were and spicy. The others had the Scotch egg and all agreed it was yummy and the bacon in the jam was delicious. I ordered the Pie but with Chips and a side of onion rings, my Sister and brother in law had the Pork Belly, and others opted for the Salmon/Gnocchi, and Pie with mash and veg (the veg is non existant - 2 tiny carrots and a green stork). The Pie was superb and my wife said it was the best pie she had eaten. The meat was tender and the sauce was delicious as was the pastry, and the chips were fantastic. The Salmon was tasty but the Gnocchi sadly let it down. The bone of contention was with Desserts, well infact the Cheeseboard. 3 people ordered this and had to complain: at £8.95 you expect a decent selection of not wafer thin cheese, 3 small pieces of celery and 3 white with no Blue cheese?? We did complain and they try to say they mix up the selection but all of a sudden they said they did have blue cheese? The piece of red leicester on the plate was also the size of a matchstick!! Big dish of pickle and lots of wafers but lacking for the price. To be fair to the restaurant they did offer a free drink and one of the main courses taken off the Bill so they were more than fair and the was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding, with sauce and ice cream was very yummy indeed. The toilets were nice and clean but disabled access may be a problem. The pub was busy and had a very warm welcoming feeling to the place. We will be back to try the Sunday lunch very soon. Goodness me, I loved this evening here. The food was amazing, well presented, and really tasty. Staff were really welcoming and our table was all ready for us. Thank you for a evening. Place is massive, after few drinks you need a map to find a way back from garden or toilets. We were seated at the very corner and were completely forgotten. Our friends had their drinks as they arrived before us and we had to wait around 20 minutes for someone to come over. It took ages to get a waitress attention - she was too busy talking to her colleagues. So disrespectful. Food took a bit but was lovely, portions were massive and we all left full. It just could be a bit more seasoned , especially chicken schnitzel- it was bland. They have a rear parking but how to find it ? No idea. It look as an place but is very disappointing Word's fail to share just how this place is. Table for 2 booked, we were running late, still accommodated us. The was top notch, the Sunday lunch was bloody lovely! Top all that off with a fantastic atmosphere, gorgeous building and interior! Absolute gem of a place! Totally blown away, after a long hike around the nature reserve which is close by we felt a little peckish, after a quick hunt on Google I noticed this place and thought we would give it a bash. I didn't realise it would be such a decision,it's currently going through some building work at the back but everyone was polite and welcoming, even the builders, we walked through the door and within moments we were greeted and seated. Not the normal rinse and repeat menu, such a refreshing change. After looking over their menu we decided to pick a couple of unusual sandwiches, this lead to us eating the best sandwiches of our life's... And I'm a pretty good sandwich maker 😉 It left me so happy I wanted to hug the owner and chef, I didn't, but that was the level of outstandingness achieved. We have been to top Mitchell restaurants around the world, yet a pub within an hour of my house resulted in such an experience. For all that is good in the world, go... Go and eat there. A massive thank you to the owner and chef and please, keep up the food. We had New Year’s Day dinner at the Duke of Wellington in Stanwick for a group of 11, and it was faultless. The food was outstanding across the board, beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. The was brilliant: friendly, happy, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole experience even better for such a large group. The pub itself is fab, cosy, warm, and beautiful, the perfect setting for a relaxed celebratory meal. We honestly can’t fault a single thing and will definitely be returning as always. Highly recommended. Three of us called in at short notice around 2pm on a weekday afternoon on the way back to London. We just wanted a drink and a small lunch. We each chose a sandwich, and I can say that the halloumi sandwich I had was maybe the best I’ve ever had. And the chips were excellent too. My friends each had the fish ginger sandwich and were equally impressed. I’d definitely call back if I was in the area again. The Duke of Wellington recently held our Wedding Reception and my goodness we cannot remoond enough! They couldn't have been more accommodating and saw our vision for our special day. We truly had the most wonderful day! A big thank you to Kerry who made the day so special! She was fantastic prior to the day and nobody worked harder than her on the day itself! Because of Kerry everything went according to plan! All of our guests and family cannot stop complimenting how she was. The food was gorgeous, atmosphere was incredible and truly the most incredible day! 💕 Thank you! Had the fish and chips and a veggie burger. Food was great, fries exceptional. Beer was too. It was lively with lots of christmas parties but didnt feel overwhelmingly loud. Kerry was our waitress and was wonderful. Being served by the Alison Woolley fantastic throughout our meal. The food was superb, as someone who gluten free the chef perosnally told what options i could eat .which led to the best burger I've ever!! Deserts we're and once again the server was stunning. Attended a party there, facilities and atmosphere was great. Food was really good as well. We then booked for lunch the following day (Sunday) and had the most sharing roast for 2. Incredible! We have lived in the village for 10 years and seen this pub change hands more times than we can remember. We haven’t eaten here for a long long time, the menu always seemed a bit fancy and pricey for us. After an invite from friends however I can honestly say I will be back. The atmosphere was lovely, the menu range has improved enormously, my macaroni was huge and delicious and the was brilliant. Its rare these days to go out to dinner and have waiting staff actually interact with you, to me that's part of the evening and our waitress was super and understood our banter completely, a huge credit to the pub. If you haven't been for a while like us, go. You won't be disappointed. (And just for the record, I used to manage a pub so I am super picky when eating out!!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The food was perfectly cooked and presented. Pleasant staff and obliging. I saved room for pud and had to take a picture. It tasted as good as it looked. It’s a popular place I highly recommend no washing up Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
