Pastella has a prime spot in Madalena and the pastries were absolutely delicious! However, service was a bit slow and there was a drunk man at the bar which made things uncomfortable. Worth a stop, but could be improved with better atmosphere. Generally good food. 👍🏻 Croissants too dry. 😕 Pastéis de Nata burned. 😕 Catastrophic service! 👎🏻😔 Staff never smiles and creates an extremely unwelcoming vibe. Has the potential to ruin one's morning. Honestly, the way you interact with your customers is not okay, guys. Light and modern interior. 😊 Central location with a nice little square in front. We stopped in first thing in the morning and the cases looked quite bare (not sure if they weren't set up yet or were already sold out). Ultimately we were able to snag a light breakfast which included the following: - Chorizo pastry that was satisfactory - Ham and cheese build your own sandwich left a bit to be desired - Simple omelet was the best option as it came with a side salad and french fries - American coffee and iced latte were also satisfactory We did greatly appreciate the candor of the host who helped us navigate our order as we did not speak the language. Good pastery and bread. The "pastel de nata" is way to expensive... 2€/each and not the best example of a good "pastel de nata" from Portugal... had a donut, good atmosphere, and the service was also 👌 this donut, it was more than just then just a donut though- it was a life changing out of body supernatural and mega delicious delicacy of this outerwordly infinitely satisfying and superbly welcoming establishment. We loved stopping here for a quick bite while we stayed in Madalena! Their homemade pizza is a perfect quick lunch. Service was quick and the staff are very kind. It’s a perfect location with good affordable options for breakfast or lunch! So many pastry options as well! Went here several times during our stay in Pico and food was perfect for breakfast or lunch! High quality pastries and coffee as well as (generally) friendly staff. Highly recommended it's an absolute scam. Super expensive for what it offers. 30€ for 2 cappuccino, 2 tiny orange juices and 4 super SMALL sandwiches with old bread and just omelette inside. In our 1 month roadtrip in Azores it's the first time we felt like they "stole' our money. With just 30€ we've had whole amazing meals and drinks at other restaurants. I was left sad, surprised and hungry. For half the price it would be ok.
