Kräuterpark Altenau

Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany Botanical garden

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. If you like gardens, plants, or cooking, don’t miss this place. The garden is a beautiful escape, with a picturesque creek and pond and signs identifying all of the herbs. In the pagoda are interesting displays about the more curious herbs, like nutmeg, saffron and cardamon. A sign says the store sells 1,500 different herbs, mixes and teas, and I believe it: it’s better than any herb store I’ve visited in Germany, and I l’ve been to them all. (Harissa, ras al hanout, berbere, cajun, vast selections of curries and grill rubs, chipotle and every other chile as well as burrito, taco and fajita mixes.... If it isn’t here, it doesn’t exist.) Never seen so many in one place! Great variety available in the shop. The garden outside beautiful, some areas better kept/presented than others but overall well worth a visit. Great environment for insects and birds. Welcome to the gardens could have been more friendly :( Lovely garden. Dogs are not allowed. Cafe was good with fab cakes. Spice aroma of shop is overwhelming. Nice garden. Almost every plant had a sign with its name. In the shop one can buy species. The cafe was closed in mid Aug 2020. Entrance fee for 18+ is 4 euro Interesting place to see and smell different growing in a natural environment. Very calming and serene Great place, great to walk around and enjoy the herbs, butterflies and afterwards delicious cake in the Café there. Lovely place with lots of interesting and plants to see and smell. A good place for a walk with the family. We go to visit whenever we are in the area - unfortunately this usually means spending too much money on all the delicious teas and mixed spices in the shop. 🙈 Surprisingly nice place with lots of interesting herbs.
