Site has shade from trees, it’s along a fairly busy road but quiet overnight. Great central location in Chartres. Short term or overnight parking for 30 motor homes by roadside and under trees. 35 mins to Chartres centre and cathedral (also by bus). Parking only, no facilites, free. Thanks to the municipality for providing somewhere free for motorhomes to park up. It's a long to the town centre. Aire is right next a road and there is a lot of traffic during rush hour, which seems to be for 4 hours in the morning and in the evening, starting at 4.30am! On the embankment opposite there is sometimes a freight train passing from the local gravel pits, it sounds like there is an earthquake going on. I wanted to into the town centre to see the Christmas lights, gps signal was rubbish, there was no signage, it felt quite unsafe. Only some small litter bins provided. Level parking, between trees, with a field behind. It was a bit muddy. Very good to have place like this in 10 min. away from city centre specially in March was totally free of charge, and easy to park a campervan, so many spaces , i had a good night sleep 👌. Best place to start discovered all city . Nice park and riverside into town. Supermarket nearby. No facilities but great if you are self-contained Came for an overnight enroute stop. Plenty of space, it was bitter cold. Field behind me was still frozen. Not too noisy. Thank you Chartres. Great place to stay. We’ve been on the campsite before with family who have a caravan when it was wet, much prefer here. Easy into the city. The illuminations are must. Plenty of flat cycling, lovely villages, would recommend Jouy for coffee stop. We’ll definitely return to this lovely city. Nice free stopover. A little traffic noise during the day but goes quiet in the evening. Good nights sleep.shopping and fuel just around the corner Great town and place to stop over. A big thanks to the Marie. Basic, off grid, but comfortable some road noise but goes quite over night. Good views over park spotted deer this morning and 15 min follow river to town. Supermarket round the corner,please don't pass on as won't to stay here again as dont won't it to get too busy.
