Full of warblers. Dragonflies. Swallows. 1 hide inaccessible as overgrown in front. Magical. Lovely place, but virtually no there on Friday. Hopefully just the wrong time of year and nothing more worrying? Great Reserve with plenty of birds. No facilities on site though. Good access for wheelchairs if needed too. Pleasant walk around the nature reserve saw few wheelchair accessible easy to find Beautiful area, lots to see Apart from a couple of sparrows in the car park there were no to be seen due to the height of the reeds. You can hear them and their movement in the reeds though so they're definitely in there somewhere! This is by no means a complaint.. the whole area is a perfect environment for the wildlife ❤️ We had a lovely walk, sat in the hide and took in the tranquility. Really disapointed the place is so overgrown which makes the paths quite narrow , I did find the hide but all i could see was the top of reeds before the hide got invaded by a swarm of angry wasps , The only water i saw was along the drover path which we are not allowed along, I ended up taking photos of small in the car park, This is somewhere i will never go again , Must be the worst RSPB site i've visited in fact i have been so disapointed with RSPB reserves with the exception of Bempton cliffs and Middleton lakes when i got home to the Midlands i cancelled my membership. Small and quiet when we went but it was middle of the day and hot , It was our first time to Greylake so we were on just a look around. I did see a kingfisher and actually managed to get photos which was great . We will certainly be going again especially in the Autumn. Stunning little nature reserve! So many special birds, a visit during the winter is particularly rewarding, with hundreds of wildfowl and good numbers of Snipe, plus regular visiting of prey including Peregrine and Merlin.
