Super zažitok, prijemný personál. Krasne prostredie. Visiting the Slovak Mine was a unique and fascinating experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in history, geology, or simply exploring something different. This mine, located in the eastern part of Slovakia near Prešov, is the oldest mine in the world and has a rich history dating back several centuries. It’s incredible to think that opals from this very mine were once worn by royalty and nobility across Europe. The itself was well-organized and informative. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the mine, sharing interesting stories about how mining evolved over time. We learned about the different types of opals found in the mine, their formation process, and even the legends surrounding the gemstones. The underground tunnels were well-lit and easy to navigate, though some areas were a bit narrow and damp, which is to be expected in a mine. The atmosphere inside was mysterious and enchanting, with shimmering veins visible in the rock walls. One of the highlights of the was seeing actual opals embedded in the stone and learning about the mining techniques used in the past. The temperature inside the mine remains cool throughout the year, so bringing a jacket is a good idea. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is that the tour, while very interesting, felt a bit short for the price. Additionally, while the mine itself is well-preserved, some areas could benefit from additional signage or interactive elements to enhance the experience. A small museum or an area where visitors could try mining opals themselves would be a great addition. Overall, the Slovak Mine is a hidden gem (literally and figuratively) that offers a glimpse into a unique part of Slovakia’s history. If you're in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit! A very interesting place to visit. Sadly there are no English tours, but we were given a couple A4 sheets of information in English about what the guide will say, but he definitely said more in Slovakian. Be prepared some warm clothes as tunnels are cold. Price is 10eur per person, but they do tours for kids and a special 5h as well. The biggest mine in the world. Very interesting place with very interesting history. Professional interpretation with a funny comments. In the mine the temperature is 7°C. The guided is 800 meters long takes approximately 90 minutes. The staff is very helpful and good educated. Highly recommended. Ogólne wrażenia pozytywne , ale spodziewaliśmy się czegoś więcej Fun old mine worth an hour visiting especially on a hot day. Very good value, make sure you bring warm clothes though, it varies between 2-8 degrees celcius inside. Tour is in Slovak but they give you an English guide to follow. Perfektné Pretty cool, literally and figuratively. Wear good shoes and a decent jacket. They had english headsets that described many of the stops. Very nice welcome center with coffee, bathrooms, and souvenirs. Mali sme so sebou 6 ročnú a 7 ročnú. Parkovanie ok. Prístupová cesta, cez krásne lesné prostredie. Bez dier a výmoľov, trošku užšia. Great experience for a quick trip (50m tour). Around €12 per adult, €7 for kids over 3yrs. Much easier to get around than the ice caves so child friendly. was in Slovak language but devices available to provide commentary in English, German etc. Only downside was that the audio translations missed a lot of info at some parts. Fantastyczne miejsce!! I have visited the Libanka mine last Wednesday - a perfect trip to the world of gemstones. Thanks to Baška for a very nice and instructive in English (although for me would be great in Slovak as well). They have a nice shop at the site. Highly recommended if you have several hours to spend in that beautiful region. Odporúčam navštíviť a užiť si skvost našej slovenskej prírody. We love opals so this was great. We also saw so many hibernating bats which was so cool! So glad we stumbled on this and the staff and guide are all so sweet. Please go here if you have a chance. Love us Canadians Ciekawa wycieczka, audio w języku polskim pozwala poznać historię opalu. W kopalni jest zimno, warto więc zabrać cieplejsza kurtkę i buty. Dnes sme absolvovali prehliadku s detmi. Nice and unique place, only one in Europe and Asia, yet thete were only like two small boards (which are pretty easy to miss). But otherwise rather nice place, inside there's only about 7°C, so I really suggest wearing something warm, and even some waterproof shoes. Anyway I really enjoyed the tour, I really reccommend it to everyone! PS: You can also take anything you find down there, so keep your eyes open! Tolles Erlebnis Unique place in euro-asia, oldest mine in the world abandoned only after discovery of in Australia where it was much easier to mine. I have visited almost all caves in Slovakia with my son (8 years old now) and this place was maybe better then all caves in Slovakia except Ochtinska aragonitova cave, especially from the point of view of a child. Veľmi prijemný personál a dobrá profesionálna prednáška. Jeho zážitky by som si rada niekde vypočula👍☺️ Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
