We stopped here just for the night but wished we were stopping longer. The room was huge. Bed was massive. Big bathroom with an actual bath. Breakfast was good. And we also had dinner here which was also lovely. Staff, particularly the manager, were great. Highly recommend. Only comments I would make. The bath takes ages to even partly fill. There is a shower head but no bracket so you have to shower yourself off. And we were on the ground floor but the floor above creaked and banged every time the people above us moved which at 7.00 on a Saturday morning wasn't great. What a wonderful place to stay and eat! The bed was a bit hard but I was not there long anyway, they should soften them to match the cost room aesthetics. That aside, the food was exceptional, I don’t say that lightly either. The crisp and dips starter was unreal, homemade crisps! I had butternut squash Rissoto for mains, I don’t like blue cheese so they accommodated my Rissoto to have Parmesan instead! As for desert which I rarely have, it was out of this world. I rarely go to pubs, this made me think twice. all and too! Looking forward to returning next year Stunning food, superb accommodation, service, will definitely be back. Highly recommended! We didn't see the rooms but friends who stayed seemed impressed. The location is a bit out in the sticks BUT it it is an pub. The were extremely and efficient. The facilities were fantastic. An outdoor pizza kitchen producing pizzas, a marquee perfect for weddings and private parties, complete with a limited bar. A separate accommodation wing, car park and a lovely beer garden. The food at breakfast looked too. Would love to go back again and would highly recommended. In fact, if I could pick this place up and move it close to us, we'd go every day! We were here with our dog for a nearby training course. The pub is in a quiet village with some walking routes around it. Hotel and bar were very efficient and friendly. Really food, and the breakfasts are outstanding. Lovely country pub which has retained its charm without being dated. Large car park with plenty of space. Really welcome and attentive service. We opted for some snacks, 1 main and 2 sides for the two of us to share - croquettes were amazing, and the flat iron steak with chimichurri was very good, but the caeser salad side stole the show! The accommodation was very good, with a big king size bed, and pet as well (bring your own dog bed, bowls etc). This is an utterly place to stay and enjoy the Fabulous food, welcoming and relaxing few days away. The guys running the property are nothing short of Dave and the team are amazing. We came for Sunday lunch, the food was and the was outstanding, We shall be visiting again very soon. And a massive thank you to who helped our family member and made sure we were all accommodated and comfortable. The Red Lion is a very special pub. I have been back to stay twice as a bit of a retreat from the city, to basically sit and read by the fire and drink Butcome Original for a couple of days. The and management are really accommodating and friendly, their love for the pub really runs through the place. The rooms in the barn are clean, private and perfect judged. The also deserves a special mention for being really really with a superb menu based on local produce + classics, we ate there every night we stayed. Love it and will be back again what a rare find, fantastic peaceful location, the pub, and rooms are fantastic, could not fault anything. ample parking, the rooms are spotless and spacious, the pub welcoming and the absolutely fantastic, breakfast and the best of all the staff. the red lion is run by the the owners not a faceless corporation, they have an eye for detail and the that work for them are all so helpful and friendly, really made the difference. highly recommended, we will definitely return. Unfortunately had the roadwork right outside our room. A bit noisy. Food was in the restaurant. First night mussels I had was sour but told the management the second night the sauce was really except for the little tiny pieces of shells that crunching in my mouth was a bit annoying. One of my favourite places I’ve ever eaten! The menu has such a selection and I wanted to try everything. I have to come back soon! The was and also really quick. The chicken dish I had was so fresh and had such flavour combinations. Our 5th meal tonight at The Red Lion & we still cannot fault it. The food is exceptional. We drive 25 minutes to come here. The is outstanding & the team are always flying around the and bar area. Atmosphere is ideal you can choose the bar area or area depending on your choice of dining. Tonight we were booked into the middle bar area with young children & the team were so accommodating. Roasts are divine, Pizza if open is fresh and homemade, Lamb the best I’ve had in a while. You can hear the communication from the kitchen and front of house to insure a smooth service. Cannot find fault, highly recommended. I travel the world for work, and this is by far the best roast dinner I’ve ever had! Picture doesn’t do it justice. The were super and phoned us before our stay. They booked us a nice table for an evening meal and the food was GREAT!!! We'll definitely visit again... Probably the best pub in the world. Have had too many excellent meals to mention here - it is always my go-to. Superb and in a wonderful setting. Indifferent food & service. Wife had a ragout served in half an uncooked onion with squiggles on plate. She disliked it and ate nothing while I finished mediocre moules. Asked for reduction in price but refused somewhat rudely & charged full whack, when they could have deleted cost of ragout or offered another dish. Booking table we mentioned it was our 64th wedding anniversary but no sign request for quiet corner had been noted. For what it was the cost was exorbitant and we will not be returning. In contrast we then went on to an unpretentious pub nearer home & had a second proper lunch at half the price. This place needs professional management, trained and a better chef.
