Great place to escape the City Unfortunately last winter 2017/18 a lot of new sand was brought there containing larvae from a blood sucking fly and their population was exploding and now at dusk and dawn it's really annoying and not that relaxing like I knew the place. Lovely on a summer day to relax on the beach and watch ships steaming up and down the River Elbe going to and from Hamburg. If the weather is good (rare to happen in Hamburg), you can spend hours and hours without boredom.Very charming scenery of the Elbe and its surroundings. It could be lighted more after 8 pm though. Perfect place to grab some fresh air and play outdoor games with friends. Beautiful beach by the Elbe. Shadow for kids and parking lot nearby. Nice for a walk year around, but crowded at the weekends Lovely view of the river and passing boats/ ships Family oriented place. Great to chill at. Stay by the beach and enjoy a BBQ and just enjoy the Elbe.
