Nice place for an explore, such a varied environment from meadows to forest When I lived round Ormeau, I would often take a break from the stresses and strains of big city life by taking a run or a leisurely bike ride down the tow path. Within minutes, the grind of metropolitan existence evaporated from my consciousness and I felt the restorative calm that only a deep, profound connection to nature can provide. In fact, one time I became so blissfully relaxed my soul left my body for about 10 minutes. I kid you not! I floated high above the tree tops, soaring majestically like a juiced up pterodactyl ascending heavenward past shooting stars and exploding meteorites as the fast flowing river and small minded people receded to insignificant specks far below. My mate brought me back to earth by smacking a tennis ball off my head. Cheers for that Dave. Legend. So close to civilisation yet so immersed in nature. A great place for exercise, walking the pets, or simply ambling along taking in a lungful of air. Varied wildlife makes every visit an unexpected encounter. A haven of peace, tranquility & greenery within walking distance of the outskirts of Belfast. Herons, kingfisher, a seal, cormorants, frogs, & lots of other wildlife can be seen at times. There are some wheelchair/buggy accessible routes to the towpath. Open meadows beside the towpath, almost hidden. Has a rough tracks to follow. Often has cows grazing, so keep dogs on a short lead. Walked fron Lock Keepers towards Cutters wharf. The river cannot be seen mostly as the bank is overgrown mostly with high nettles anď other dangerous weeds. The bit of water where the boat is looks gray and smells. The boat is an eyesore. Only went halfway and then turned back at it was too depressing. Would not return here again. Be aware of the huge nettles and children Well this place is peaceful, i would recommend in summer it feel like more greener and peaceful. The good thing is its not far away from belfast and you can use public transportation. Its nice place for walk or running track is good. Good place for pets walk as well Maybe the wrong time of year,but in my opinion this park is quite boring.Mostly just walking trails,and no real signage,where you are going.Nice bridge,and few good paintings on walls. Many of summer, winter, spring and autumn days & evenings spent up along here, each season as peaceful and as beautiful as the next. One of my favourite places in N.I.
