A lovely alongside a stream with lots of understory plants. The can be strenuous (uphill!) or easy downhill. Gravel path with steps can be muddy when wet. A nice cool shady on a hot summer day Eazy and enjoyable along small streams of water. Refreshing. Easy access from the city centre. Fantastic up into hills above East Belfast. Great views across the city and a beautiful glen with waterfall and light dappling through deciduous trees. Even a 12 to 14 hundred year old hill fort at the top (not in great repair but still worth seeing). Be warned- the climb is steep including high steps. Also some steps and fences really need maintenance work done to them - stout shoes are essential if there's been any rain recently (ok all the time - this is Belfast!) and this isn't for anyone with limited mobility. A good from Cregagh Glen to the rath at Lisnabreeny. The American war memorial is worth a view. Great views from there across Belfast to Black mountain and Davis. Good footwear required as the path is a little rough in places. The national trust car park at Lisnabreeny is very small. I parked on the Cregagh road. I live close to the cregagh glen, so me and the kids visit often. It's a really nice all year round. The waterfalls and walkways are stunning. No real parking at the bottom near but you can park at the top of the cregagh road. Its really well maintained and it's very surprising half way up to think your still belfast. While visiting Belfast for the week, we were looking for activities off the beaten track. We were very happy with this find. It was easily accessible on bus and the hike was lovely with our children. Steep enough but good paths and steps where necessary. You start off near a busy dual carriageway and you're soon immersed in very picturesque scenery especially if you make it all the way up to Lisnasharragh Rath. The steep steps are worth the view idealic spot. I wouldn’t bring a bike there though! Also if you’re not using google maps you’ll miss it. There’s no car park. I would also suggest not going at peak times as the path is very narrow in some spots Beautiful scenic walk, our dog loves it just as much as we do. Shame about some people's problem with littering. We witnessed one woman toss her coffee cup into the stream whilst ironically taking a photo of a different area. If you can't hold onto your single use coffee cup (or whatever else) until you leave, maybe don't bring it or bring a bag? Its a beautiful trail to covering glen, forest and meadow. Not too many places to sit here and I could not see any parking.
