I rather like this alley in Whitstable – has left it behind so it remains firmly stuck sometime around 1985. It reminds me of the alleys of my youth where I first learned to bowl. A memory of a thing revisited. There are 10 – it would be fair to say that the equipment is somewhat old and temperamental, but that doesn’t detract from the too much. You get the occasional pin fall over on a reset, but that’s hardly the end of the world for your average attendee. It’s supposed to be a bit of fun, not a league game. I think it was about £30 for two games? Played two and had no issues aside the odd fallen pin – scoring system worked fine. Tiny hidden step up from main floor to alleys was difficult to notice, but you will only stumble once.. 😊 Small area behind offering a smattering of arcade machines, pool table etc and some basic diner-type food. Didn’t eat but looked fine – burger and chips, stuff like that. Can’t go wrong with chips. More importantly, there was a bar with pints available – the pints in this instance were Coors. Coors for the people. Small gaming machine next to the bar area featuring lesser – didn’t appear to offer Rise of Anubis or Thai Princess. Convenient car park outside, maximum stay 2 hours which is generally plenty for a couple of games. Be careful if you have many bowlers though. Will visit again certainly. place for This place needs some serious money invested in it. It's so tired and grubby....the toilets are horrendous and need a serious clean. The were friendly enough so I'll give them an extra star for that but 2 stars is quite generous for the state of this place! It was good to take the family 👪 there for a have a little fun bit manic with a 1&2 Yr old but we had fun. It was expensive more than I was expecting the food was satisfactory nothing to shout about. The are probably the best kept part of the place. The men's toilets was a disgrace 😤 they stank, urine on the seat and probably the floor, can't remember there being soap available either. The young ladie member was very helpful and polite, running the food kiosk and bar. And when a drink got split on the she was the one cleaning it up. The two guys were polite but was more rapped up in conversation. I think one was maintenence. Had a evening, three for £10.95, value! Felt like I was back in the 80s. ⭐ 1 out of 5 – Disastrous Experience at MFA Bowl Whitstable I’m not usually one to leave reviews of this nature, but our recent visit to MFA Bowl Whitstable was so poor it warrants a warning to others. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill fast. We were forced to move three separate times due to broken machinery and pins not resetting properly — each causing delays and cutting into our booking time, plus not improving the experience at all with the need for multiple manual resets by staff. The condition of the was even worse — chipped, cracked, and some with holes so jagged they could take your fingers off. I’ve seen better equipment in charity shops. It genuinely felt like they haven’t maintained the place in years. Staff were polite enough but clearly overwhelmed and desensitised to complaints — as if this kind of chaos is just another day at the lanes. It’s a real shame, as MFA Bowl used to be a fun local spot. Now, it’s a tired, neglected venue that desperately needs investment and proper maintenance. It’s clear to us they have invested money in the arcade side completely neglecting the key USP of them venue itself! Would not recommend. Save your money and sanity — go elsewhere. Always to bowl down at that place! I visited MFA on a Sunday morning with my young grandson, husband and daughter. I haven't bowled in over 20 years, i am not an expert on these matters. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it was clean, quiet and pleasant. This venue desperately need new and working pin machines. The pins were frequently falling over when new started. Which could easily irritate some people, I saw it as a bonus, less for me to knock over! A lot of the had chunks missing from them and click clacked loudly when thrown down the alley, leaning precariously to whichever side it fancied, which was amusing if not a little frustrating at times, when you miss! It's like there's a conspiracy to test your character before you even start your game, and which defect will annoy you first. I enjoyed my there, however I would probably not return if I was a competitive bowler and wanted a skilled game. Had the most fab Steve was so helpful. We laughed so much! 100% recommend. Thank you! First here. The music was way to loud. Place looks quite rundown and needs repairs. Broken bumpers on the lanes. Our lane continuously had issues. Not many lighter for smaller kids. We had fun but the need some maintenance to bring them up to standard. The pins sometimes got stuck and we had to ask the to reset them a few times. A lot of the we only had nine pins. Other were playing up as well. The bowls were in poor condition with scratches and dinks. The bumpers are manually operated by the and have to be up or down for everyone instead of just for the person that needs them. Also there were only three seats per lane. The sorted the skittles out quickly when asked, but the recurring problem was annoying and should be fixed as it's not cheap. I've started going here regularly (twice a week) over the last month or so and I've been really enjoying it. I go once a week with my girlfriend on a date night, either for or a few of pool. And then we go with the kids on Sundays. They do a online offer of £3 a after 6pm on a Sunday, so it's a steal (but don't go, we like having the place to ourselves!) Yes, it needs some investments and a revamp. Yes, the may occasionally freeze and need a reset. If I was very picky I might have knocked off a star for that. But it's walking distance from our house, the customer service is excellent, there's a decent range of drinks. I love that it's quiet most of the because with the excellent customer service they make it feel like I've hired out the alley for a private session with my gf/kids. Special thanks to Steve who makes us feel like VIP's anytime we walk in. If you're local to Whitstable, have a little patience with technical issues, and are looking for something to do in the evenings I'd highly recommend this place. The printer wasn’t working so no report for our granddaughter to keep. Over all i certainly wouldn’t bowl there again and for the price it was not good value for money. A dated alley that does not work if the weather is to hot outside because the machinery starts malfunctioning meaning and skittles do not reload. Please also note they DO NOT issue refunds. Pay a little extra and go to a chain instead of wasting your with this place. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s closed down next I pass by. Laughable. The are a little run down (some are a bit wonky too) but overall it's a guaranteed good time. first visit, we’ll be back! Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
