Incredible from this area make the trip worth it even if you don't see Paxmal. The monument itself is peaceful, obviosuly a labor of love, yet also just a little creepy, in that it feels like you're being watched while your there. Either way, it is a very interesting place to visit! Interesting monument, great view. Nice hiking routs in the vicinity. Paxmal is the place where you want to go if you are looking for chill, nice and little bit of history. You can drive there or hike, it's up to you. It's for free. Do not forget, that down there is Wallensee which is my favorite lake in Switzerland :) Really nice peaceful temple to see. Doesn’t cost money but you can leave a donation. Spectacular and you can drive all the way up to a Park platz and walk a bit to the spot. Well worth a visit. The and scenery is just staggering!!! Absolutely incredible views. Paxmal itself is an awesome piece of mosaic art which depicts Man and Woman and there relationship to one another starting at the beginning and then going through life to when they're very old. I think this actually depicts his own relationship with his wife, they sit together at an elderly age in the center of the this shrine, monument that he had created. There's also a farm/ restaurant where you can eat the local produce and get an idea of family life on a typical Swiss farm at a very high altitude ! Where ever you go in Switzerland you can be pretty much guaranteed spectacular views. Oh and from here you have a spectacular of the lake for below you. The road up is quite steep and certainly winding, and very narrow so you need to be very cautious driving ! You are practically above the clouds and one step closer to heaven! Hidden Gem Alert ! best to transport by bus or by car but hard to find a parking space. lovely walk up to Paxmal, transports you into a different Time, so peaceful but tourists are taking over because it's a great photo opportunity (can't blame them) Well worth a visit. Our holiday house is right next to it up in the mountains. We go there every now & then but sadly for past 3-4 years the water in that “pond” is never changed. Disgusting as it is, its a pity the city never bothered cleaning it. Its full of bacteria germs & little animals you can see swimming in it. Even for fun DONT let your kids touch that water. AMAZING!!!!!! Do the hike up from the Reha-Klein bus stop (about an hour on paved road) the journey up is as satisfying as the destination- TO DIE FOR!!!!!! An absolutely joyful hiking to see this peace memorial. Based on the official statement, it is a quiet and peaceful place for inner reflection. The from the memorial is really beautiful. Several restaurants nearby and you can also drive to the top with easy parking.
