Was here 8 years ago too, and back then, you could enter the windmills. Now all are closed. Pity we had bad weather, so not a good view due to the fog. There's a close where you can park. The climb up is not for everyone. Loose stones. You need good shoes if you want to see them all. The view is amazing. We were over the clouds! Many are closed but you really get the impression you want from the scenery. How hard was life before? The just next to the mills is a perfect stop! Very interesting and beautiful, not only the miles but the plateau. Some small towns very traditional. We stoped at a local delicious restaurant. For people that like photography it is a very good place to go. Quaint little place, you need trainers to climb up the pebbley footpath. Nice and tourist shop next door 🙂 Cost nothing to visit. This is a stop off point en route to lasithi plateau. It's a great view point looking out towards the sea before you drive over the mountains. The windmills are a sign of the times. Relics now. But interesting nonetheless. Just over the top literally 20 seconds from the top is a restaurant, rest rooms ect. 👍 Nice to see once. One mill is fully restored. Good parking below the mills. Very expensive restaurant. And the Cook was smoking a sigarette while prepare food in the kitchen. The drive to up there is for people from flat lands pretty exiting and the place has a very nice restaurant, well equipped souvenire shop and most importantly magnificent views. Prices are slightly cheaper then in the tourist resorts. It's not a long drive up the range to the peak where you can see the old windmills location. The road up is pretty well maintained and there are plenty of lookouts along the way to take in the incredible view. At the top there's parking and an amazing view where you can see the island of Crete surrounded by water. There's a beautiful located at the top next to the car park. This give you great views down onto the plateau. They specialise in woodfired meats such as lamb and pork cooked in a traditional style. Toilets are available at the and they also take all major cards.
