I arrived at the spot and immediately felt I was in the right place. The owner of the photographed restaurant immediately understood what I was asking for. He brought me artichokes in tomato sauce - traditional food. So reminds me of my mother's food. The were and tasted. Potatoes with a special flavor, of course the most homey and tasty Everything is clean, real service with a smile, an amazing atmosphere. Where I would want to go back if I came back to Crete. So after we made friends with him he offered us some items off the menu. One of witch was a soup that he made only for us. Food is absolutely delicious, the fresh, the produce bursting with flavor and the fries are hands down the best I have had in crete in a long time! All this with the most incredible view. Time stands still here. We stopped here to 'recharge our batteries' with a snack and some coffee. We ordered the dakos and xinogalo. The food was served quickly and was delicious. ​The staff were incredibly friendly, and the place itself has a wonderful, atmospheric vibe. To top it off, we received a complimentary fruit dessert at the end, which we weren't expecting at all. ​Even setting aside that lovely surprise, this place is well worth a visit after the challenging mountain drive to get here, or simply as a break from the beach. Good and seafood, average portion sizes, low prices. After eating lunch here we could not resist the lure of the clear sea water nearby and spent the afternoon swimming there. There is a changing booth and a very narrow beach but with it's charm. There is a nearby bar that is also very relaxed and good prices. We had an amazing experience at Taverna Kriti! The was incredibly and full of flavor – one of the best meals we’ve had in Crete. The atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, and the service was warm and friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy traditional food in a true Cretan setting! This restaurant is a family business. The food is delicious, regardless if you choose fish, vegetables or meat. Located on the sea shore, the tavern has a great view. After a meal you always get a desert on the house and the traditional raki. Definitely recommend the place! Food is & delicious, Location amazing. The owner is a charmy Greek guy. We stayed next door to Kriti Taverna for 10 days. We tried all the taverns in the area and by far Taverna Kriti had the best service, atmosphere and food. We ate dishes, meat dishes, rich salads, greek tapas.. and each dish was perfect.
