For our group of 20, the tour of the winery began with a welcome drink. The guide explained the history of the place very clearly. We visited the cellar and received a brief but interesting information about how the castle family has made for several generations. Finally, we tasted three different Riesling wines. An excellent place, I recommend it. Amazing food, ambience and scenic view. We had rose wine. Evening they were planing for some games and lot of families were there to participate. we had a private tour, excellent. Very nice place with great atmosphere. Perfect food and wine. Wine has been grown at Schloss Johannisberg for 1200 years, and exclusively Riesling since 1720. This is the cradle of one of the oldest and finest grape varieties in the world. With a traditional winery and the associated vineyard, Schloss Johannisberg proudly calls itself "THE FIRST RIESLING WINERY IN THE WORLD. " My German Professor Ringsdorf led our group's day trip to the Schloss Johannisberg in the 1980's. We learned the history of Schloss Johannisberg, tasted the Riesling wines, visited the underground castle cellar, the famous treasure chamber of Johannisberg Castle - the 'Bibliotheca Subterranea'. More than 25,000 precious wines are stored in the 900-year-old abbey cellar. The oldest dates back to 1748. This year in 2025, I visited Schloss Johannisberg again but in Winter. There were no tasting and guided tours. As a photophile, I asked for permission in the shop to enter the and take some photos. Even though the outdoors was cold and windy, I enjoyed walking in the vineyard, magnificent views over the vineyard, Rheingau and Rhine River, fresh air and good exercise by walking in the Vineyard. The sunny weather helped me take some good photos. Here I would like to share some of the photos I took in the of the Schloss Johannisberg with you. In April there will be guided tours and tasting in Schloss Johannisberg again. Rheinegau Musik Festival 2025 will run from June 21 to September 6, 2025. Several concerts are scheduled in the Schloß Johannisberg. Imagine seating in the beautiful Fürst-von-Metternich-Saar and listening to nice music 🎶, you will absorb more positive energy. In addition to tickets to the concert, tickets for taking public transportation by ESWE or driving, and possible overnight hotel costs should be included in the budget.
