Surprised to stumble upon this museum. Beautiful garden you can visit for free I discovered this by chance while on my way to Soissons and decided to stop for a visit. The château is stunning, with a magnificent entrance that immediately catches the eye. The itself is engaging and features a thoughtful selection of artworks. It won’t blow your mind with its collection, but it has a charm and character all its own. And since admission is completely free, there’s really no reason to complain. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit! Such a memorable place to see...museum so well set out and full of wonderful artefacts For a that honors the French & American relationships, this was not very kind to Americans in the choice of displays. I am an American. I mean, I did learn that France played a big part in the Battle of Yorktown in the Revolutionary War. In a blaze of Patriotism, I think we overlook that France has been our nation's longest ally. But the also pointed out America's mistreatment of Native Americans, slaves, and war-tme misdeeds. I am not denying that these aren't blemishes of America's history, but there were hardly no redeeming exhibits (just the American Ambulances in WWI). We were the only visitors, and we were followed around by staff to every room, as if we were doing something wrong. This really is a hidden gem. An American living in France, I was not expecting much from the exhibit. I was very wrong. The exhibits do cover 3 different franco-american themes and there's much to look at and read. The collection of paintings in the past wing blew my mind. Very nice staff and gardens, and what looks to be an excellent restaurant nearby. Outstanding museum. Great opportunity to discover the important role of American women in helping France during WW I and in France's recovery post WW I. A must see. Didn't quite flow with the various museums in there. Lots to read and of you like art you would enjoy. Surroundings were lovely though. Very beautiful, amazing gardens.
