Very interesting museum...a bit pricey with 7 euros, but this is a monument of history and a must-see. I was particularly interested in the French surrender of 1940, which is also covered in the museum. Great insightful visit. Very historical and the area was lovely for a walk I was looking forward to seeing the replica of the carriage where the armistice agreement was signed.... but there is soooo much more to this than the carriage itself. Very well laid out, very informative. I would say allow 45-90mins to go around. Only downside- no cafe A really interesting place to if you like WW1-WW2 history. If you know about the wagon and the treaty there is still enough to make the worth it and if you don't then it is still great. The grounds are lovely too. larger than expected with a lot of information. I had heard about this legendary wagon since forever so to was a good experience. I would really recommend visiting here just to appreciate the significance of the place in terms of the signing of armistice when Germany surrendered in the 1st world war and then the irony of the French agreeing armistice at the very same place to Hitler in 1940.. Won't take long to but will be worth it. Excellent museum. Definitely worth the visit. We were able to witness the Armistice ceremony on 11/11/23 at 11am. Had to come back another day for the which was closed due to the security perimeter for the Remembrance ceremony. A must on your list for WW1 (and even WW2) history touring. Awesome on the history of the wagon. Well worth it I've done loads.of.WW1 and.WW2 spots but this one really surprised and impressed me. I was aware of the WW1 carriage being pulled out for WW2 but didn't quite get it fully. The other thing is you really get a sense that the defeat of Germany was not a forgone conclusion at that stage in 1940. The Molotov Ribbentrop pact was in place and the U.S. was about a year and a half away and their entry was by no means guaranteed. History could have been different. Brilliant attraction this is our 3rd time here!! - parking superb athmosphere and surroundings are lovely - great to teach about history.
