Nice I've been coming here , since the 1960s , it's in better condition now , than it has been for years, free to use , rooms, life guards , and restaurants on the roof , Great place for the kids to go crabbing on or in the rock pools Basic but lovely. rooms available but no depth meters. Felt safe there alone Fab views Lovely free outdoor sea pool It has small rooms which is so handy It’s free to enter , although you can make a donation Apparently it will be closing in 2 weeks for refurbishment We used to visit Shoalstone way back in the 1980's and had a nostalgic visit today, I loved this place way back then and spent loads of time in both the and the sea and it was fantastic. The fact it's still going now is testament to the volunteers who keep it going as it would be a shame to lose it, so well done to them 👏. Visiting in October we knew it was never going to be looking at it's best, and the constant battering by the weather and sea doesn't help, but it still retains a certain charm and character no matter what's thrown at it. We went there on the Monday at 5am to take photographs of the sunrise and the before the visitors arrive. Beautiful place Visited on a weekday during the UK school summer holidays and some how managed to get the whole to ourselves for at least 20 minutes. Staff friendly. Operate in a 'voluntary donation' of £3.50 per adult or £8.00 as a family. Bargain if you ask me. Life guards on duty. Small friendly gift shop. Cafe nearby to get a warm drink afterwards. Carpark and toilet facilities nearby. Outside showers to wash sea off. Cubicles to get changed in and out of wet clothes. Steps up to these are steep if you have limited mobility. has ladders to get in where it is slightly deeper or a gradual slope for younger children or those with limited mobility. If you love this place is a must. Lovely place for older children & families. No sand. Sea surrounded by rock pools at either end. Free of charge but donations asked for to keep the running of the going. Cafe bar servings snacks & drinks with a sit in restaurant overlooking the & sea which serves seafood etc. You can hire deck chairs & loungers. Beautiful views across the bay & we even caught a sneak peek of the resident seal. Parking was £5 for 4.5 hours & you pay on the way out. Public toilets are also clean & FOC. We took a picnic & bought drinks & ice creams. Lifeguards on duty. Free rooms. Great family day out with the dog. Gem of a find. We will be returning for sure. There is a long shallow slope at the shallow end so if lengths you are probably doing 40m lengths. Free to use. A road of huts. Great restaurant above but no cafe. There is a car park but don't follow the sat nav! Whenever we are in Devon we come to this attractive sea filled pool. Its free but we always make a donation. It has lifeguards facilities a good area around the to sit, amazing views and is different than everywhere else Great with the view of the sea, its Chilly but you soon warm up just have to be brave and get in! Changing facilities there and a nice cafe . We visited in a BH holiday weekend. It was very quiet. Lovely area and pool. Some areas need a paint and freshen up but cubicles and services very good. Very run down which is such a shame. I believe it is going to have some work done later this year, if it was looked after it would be worth going and people would pay to use it. we fell in love with this place. It has lovely outside rooms, access is via steps to this area, but parking and toilets at car park at top of steps. was chilly but not enough to put us off as we visited 3 times in a week! do calming and views straight out to sea. Magical place. Great sea in a slightly tucked away location. Can be slightly busy in the holidays (late morning onwards), but there are sometimes lane ropes in for those who would like to swim laps away from the main crowd of swimmers. Should be support funded by Government/Lottery given it enables people to stay in good health & active for free, thereby saving some health services, through staying active. very nice atmosphere with good food and a great view with explorable rocks We’re returning here for our fifth time.
