The Schockl ridge area is a wide plain with the highest altitude at its west end, reaching 1445 meters, hence The West Summit or "Schöckl Westgipfel" in German. The East Summit is only 20 meters lower. This is a great area for hikers of all capabilities, even people in wheelchair, as a flat wooden path goes along the ridge. This side of the summit offers great views to the north and west, with Hochlantsch, Gleinalpe and The Tauern in distance. A nice experience but very crowded in good weather, somewhat excluding the option of peacefully enjoying the summit. One of the best place for hiking near Graz. The most beautiful view in this area, relatively easy hike, restaurants on the top. Have been there 3 times and will definitely visit more times. Good and Affordable Resteraunt, and a lot of free to use infrastructure. There is also a free to use discgolf course. They even let you borrow Discs to play for free (just a 10€ deposit) at the Resteraunt. Super cool views and a nice hike, might be a good idea to take a cable car one way.
