Very, very large area, mostly pretty and authentic, with wonderful walks that lead around the castle and back to the harbour. There's a real dingy bit though with temporary metal fence and temporary cabin type of thing, this is the 'eu customs'. Such a shame as before the EU ruled Kos it was truly 100% beautiful, was far better when Kos was Greek. Been here about 10 times it's that good! Nice day & night booking boat trips & eating & drinking over looking the harbour! We eat & drink at Jasmine Restaurant & cafe overlooking the harbour, can't beat it!.🇬🇷♥️🚢🍽🍷Check out Kos YouTube Shez & Tadd home & away Nice with lots of tourist vying for your business, we chose against any such trips due to the high winds during our stay on Kos. Plenty of cafés and restaurants across the street with good views, once the tourist have departed. It's also quite pleasant to around the harbour, but be aware of the cyclists using the cycle lanes. We saw so many people step back into the path of cyclists, fortunately nothing happened and no one got hurt. Depending on the ferry company you may have a different departure place on the harbour. When you come back from Turkey you are allowed to bring only 2 small packages of cigarettes not 2 sloffs also if you buy cigarettes in Kos and take the sloffs with you to Bodrum and you return back they will make you pay enter tax because you went out of the European Union. Also check how much alcohol you can bring back, and for Parfum it's 450 ml no more otherwise the taxes are above 40 euro !!!! Inform yourself well at customs before you leave and be specific about what you want to bring back....for medication with no prescription you have to bring the receipt with you...... For insulin you better have a prescription or if it's saxenda maximum is 2 box of 3 pens Re allowed. Kos is wonderful. you'll see the for excursions, fishing boats, beautiful yachts & there are lots of bars, restaurants & nice shops & small tavernas which are in the side streets. Beautiful selection of which you can sometimes wonder round them, amazing at night with all the different lights. Annoying when the excursion keep trying to get you to purchase a trip every 2 seconds but that's standard on holidays. Saw a man beating an octopus that he caught which was not nice to see but again it's culture there. A few stray cats wondering about and be careful of mopeds! They seem to lack road rules! You can get a boat over to bodrum from this harbour. Enjoyed many a around the at Kos Town. The water is so clear you can see the fish seeking shade under the boats. Plenty of places for food and drink within a short of the marina Love the along the Harbour, you can see the castle and pass by the Hippocrates tree. Additionally, there are blue and red miniature trains boarding at the Harbour; it takes half an hour. We loved it. Restaurants alongside have rich menu; serves fresh fish. Affordable. Last but not the least, Greek people are friendly and trustworthy.
