The Lac de la Gileppe extends behind the oldest concrete dam wall in Europe (which king Leopold II officially opened in 1878). The reservoir was to supply the textile industry in Verviers with water. Between 1967 and 1971 the dam was raised 16 meters, during which the characteristic 300-tonne and 13.5-meter-high lion of Antoine-Félix Bouré was temporarily dismantled. Today the lion proudly looks out over the beautiful forests where the lake is located. Mein See Nice walk for al age groups👌🏼 Nice place for biking 😉 What an amazing nature walk and area. Breathtaking views and lots of activities for kids and adults alike - hiking, climbing Forrest, bikes etc and a very nice Burger Bar at the base of the entrance! Beautiful place. Splendid place and not so crowded Beautiful, free elevator. Sometimes quite crowded. Okay for an afternoon walk. Part of the route is next to a big road without proper sidewalk.
