Very quite in morning. Well this is one of the best preserved mounds in Lithuania. Historics tell there was a castle Pilenai standing in 14th century and a local knight Margiris burned himself with local castle and people in order not to be caught by crusaders. Keep in mind there are 233 steps to reach the top :) Great place for hiking in near by forest. Amazing view on Nemumas river. A great place to enjoy picturesque views of river Nemunas because the confluence with river Nevėžis is just in front of the viewers once you climb up the top. Easily accessible by car or by bike. For the latter option the bicycle track is highly recommended - it runs from Kaunas Old Town all the way to Kačerginė town along river Nemunas. Tho going up from the riverbank side (bike road) you will have to climb more steps. It's a hill fort. Pictures are deceiving, it's a steep one. A mid-point between Marvele to/from Zapyskis while going on a bike trip. Delightful to stop there, take a breather, appreciate the nature, and move forward one way or another.
