Great views into the county If you are in the area it is absolutely worth a stop. Really not sure where else you would ever see something like this. It is absolutely massive. I grew up here, and the place has not changed in 45 years. Nearly 5000 years old and four laps are exactly a mile, this place is special and great for dog walking. This is a lovely spot, well cared for, interesting in itself and surrounded by walks in beautiful countryside. It is hard to believe this is so close to the city centre yet one is plunged into deepest countryside as you walk down to the Lagan at Minnowburn. The paths are very good, well done all the volunteers who maintain them. It's a shame about the graffiti on the stones themselves, but an amazing site There was a sign saying keep dogs on your lead but there were dogs everywhere. Was surprised by the amount of people on a Tuesday mid morning, goes to show the site is well used Nice place for a casual walk and fresh air. It's good for kids to run around the ring or play hiding at the center rock. Not many people there at early hour of the day but slightly busy in mid of the day especially around 11am-2pm. So do pick a good time to avoid the crowd. Make sure keeping social distance. Idea for biking to or hiking if you fancy a long walk. Astonishingly very little known site in N.Ireland. A place older than the pyramids! Has thankfully - by and large - been left to age naturally and gracefully. Said to be a tomb, but also possibly used for rituals, sacrifices etc. The views are worth it alone - but having a chance to see something so old and wonder about the people and events this amazing place has been host to over it's 1,000's of years of existence is my favourite thing about it. Has an amazing 'feeling' about it. 'The history is heavy upon you in this place' -- to paraphrase. Over 5,000 years of it here!!! Beautiful forest walks around the area of this historic site. There is parking at the site or alternatively you can park at either Shaws Bridge or Minnowburn and enjoy following the river Lagan through beautiful forest pathways. Ned’s meadow is a nice little place to explore enroute, especially in the summer when it is blooming with wild flowers.
