Stopped for coffee on the way home from a Craigavon hospital appointment. The Thatch, as is now called, was quite busy around 11am with customers having late breakfast or early lunch. After waiting a few minutes, we were shown to a large side room looking out over an interior square with some lovely autumn colours in trees and bushes etc. The room had quite a number of tables of various sizes with only one occupied. We were seated at a table set for a meal but the waitress readily took our order for coffee and one each from the selection of fresh scones available, raspberry & white chocolate and walnut & blueberry. Both scones proved delicious as were the coffees. The scones came with jam & butter on the side but we only used the butter as there was plenty of taste in the scones themselves. The bill proved to be £14 for 2 coffees+ 2 scones. Took mum for here 88th birthday. Afternoon Tea was beautiful. All little cakes made on site. Mini pavlova tasted like those my granny made, all cakes were delicate and so beautifully decorated. Scones like clouds and sandwiches blissful. A great success. Unfortunately have had to change my previous positive review. I had booked for a 60th wedding anniversary for elderly grandparents that go here regularly. I stated at the time of booking that we’d be needing 4 highchairs - then too be told 2 days before that there is only 3 highchairs at this facility and these may not even be available if other people come in ? Surely that’s the point of pre booking? Now have been left last minute trying to book a large party elsewhere. Would not recommend for a bigger party and not kid friendly if cannot accommodate 3+ children needing highchairs. Surely on a busy Saturday if 3 high chairs where in use and someone called in needing one this wouldn’t be practical? Shame as I would visit regularly but this has put me off going back. When telling them I will have to cancel the booking as we can’t show up with babies not having seats I was just told that sorry I have decided to cancel. I didn’t have a choice 😅 I had the full Irish breakfast washed down with a cappuccino. Service was friendly but the waitress didn't include the soda bread on my plate. This oversight was quickly remedied once I figured out what was missing. The restaurant is very homely but lacks any view through the windows.
