Was at Down Royal in April 2024 to celebrate my birthday. First time visiting North Ireland and loved the racecourse. I had a winner so always happy. Great little race track. Good staff every was pleasant. Good day out Went for the Ulster Derby. Racing was fantastic, but I have to say the bar was in total disarray! Bar staff were clearly not up to scratch! To make it even worse, they ran out of draft cider if not before then shortly after the first race then lol you couldn't make this up the draft larger ran out half way through the meeting. First and last for me!!! Down Royal is one of two tracks in Northern Ireland and is located just 16km south of Belfast. They host racing all year round both on the Flat and under National Hunt rules, with a total of 12 race meetings taking place there every year. Down Royal racecourse is one of the biggest racecourses in Northern Ireland. Down Royal has been providing quality horse racing action to the people of Ulster since the 17th century and it has now blossomed into a fantastic venue. Since its major development programme that started in 1993, it now offers excellent hospitality facilities, as well as brilliant entertainment for all racegoers. A sole national hunt track Down Royal's left-handed track is one mile, seven-and-a-half furlongs long with various undulations throughout its entirety. A fabulous day at the races in hospitality which was well worth the money if you could actually sit down to enjoy it. Great food selection and views of the racecourse. Downside not enough indoor seating in the hospitality but lots of space for seats? a seat was a premium to find and most of the day your left standing. Lovely event space for a great NI Chamber networking morning and stunning views over the racecourse in the spring sun!! ☀️ Very accommodating staff, management and kind racegoers. I lost my wallet at a race meeting and a member of the public handed it to staff. Management contacted me and posted the wallet intact. We had two trips to Down Royal. Staff remembered us and were very accommodating to us and our young child. Top effort and track. 👍 Lovely day out at our local track today. Always a pleasure to see these gorgeous animals doing what they love. We have a racing club which is a great way to get involved and experience racing at close quarters. Well done Down Royal team for delivering.
