Karlsborgs Fästningsmuseum

Karlsborg, Sweden Museum

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. A bit underdeveloped, but still with lots of interesting things to see and read. The fortress itself is the main attraction. It's a where people like me experience a 'information overload'. It covers several aspects like radio communications, century-wise evolvement of armed forces, types of infantry and cavalry weapons (ranging from canons to handheld firearms), and some parts of modern armed forces. We spent only a couple of hours here as the wasn't on our original itinerary. If you wish to visit, reserve an entire day. The washrooms were out of order, had to use a mobile washroom which had no lights. Not what I expected. A majority of things from 1800-1900. Very little from 1970-2000. The exhibition on Swedish special forces is nice but oh so small (hardly 2 rooms). It was a good tour inside the fortress. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take pictures, but at the exhibition/museum. Highly recommended to book in advanced. The tour experience includes some really loud noises, considered it before booking. Not what I had expected, but pleasantly surprised- was expecting to see the views and inspect a classic “fortress” but felt more like walking into a small little village. Learned a lot in the and enjoyed the quaint cafés in the courtyard. Lots of potential for Karlsborg to do more of this asset. Excellent site. Mix of active barracks, historic fortification, military and local history Museum, park with antique cannons, all in great shape. Definitely worth a Visit. The has more exhibits than expected, and you can see and learn a lot. However it is somewhat unstructured at times, English and German translations are sometimes missing, and the translations are often not grammatically correct. Still, even with those points, the is definitely worth a visit. Perfect place, interesting exhibition, nice shop!
