Toilets that are exceptionally clean and much needed facilities after our journey there. A gift shop and a café. I have visited Bolton Abbey previously and done the walks, but this time, I was absolutely thrilled I could go inside the "Priory Church" at Bolton Abbey. I loved everything about my recent visit, even the climb back up to the carpark from the river, took me a while but I did it 😳 luckily, there's the café with a welcoming atmosphere, a pot of tea, and a piece of gluten-free cake. 😋 even a friendly visitor 🐦‍⬛ Don’t go to the parking. you will pay 15£ for car whilist the receptionist will tell you that it includes tickets to the abbey, but in reality they just lie to make you pay for it. If I knew that the abbey is free to enter I would find some free or way cheaper parking. Other than that the abbey is beautiful. Such a lovely place. People here are the most amazing i have ever seen. They all are so polite peaceful and always smiling. This place will definitely transform you into an awesomeness. No words to express how blissful. Car £15 to all day. Nice toilet block and gift shop. Some nice cafes on route to Abbey. Some stairs to go down or carry on following the road and down the drive. Stepping stones were fun Nice place to visit. £15 is bit expensive. Good Tea and Coffee shops. Beautiful views. Kids can enjoy time along the river bank / stepping stone. can be bit challanging at places. Parked at the Abbey car and walked to the aqueduct. Really good walk. Well maintained paths and 2 cafes en route - we used one for a cuppa on the way and the other for lunch on the way back. Lots to see whilst walking. Nice riverside not all flat some decent climbs nice tea room and shop, good fun crossing the stepping stones. Beautiful ruins with numerous trails in woods, open spaces and riverside. Cafe offering hot and cold food Lovely place for the day, different types of walks, easy, medium, challenging. Booking is easy to do and you can freely move between car parks. Staff are always happy, welcoming and friendly from the booth to the cafes. A couple of niggles spoil BA like when you finally see a place to and someone has set up a picnic spot at the side of their car, which is fine but there's space where you overlooking the water for your picnic. Some families take up to three spots, one for their car and two spaces for their picnic spot. So if it's busy, there are a lot less spots. Cafe is ridiculously overpriced for cooked food that looked like it had been cooked hours before and kept warm. Definitely need to get some simple food on the menu, like some butties and some fries would be nice. Stepping stones are always great fun, loose ones could be secured and one way system would be great as some unsupervised children end up going the wrong way and try to get past ten people going the right way. Themed events are fun for the kids but as most stops are unsupervised, some parents take too long to take photos with their kids, take the photo and move on, you can see the line of kids waiting to sit on the different themed stations. Toilets like most public ones weren't clean at all, if understand it's tricky to keep public toilets clean when children are in and out so much again unsupervised. Beautiful place to with a few small niggles that could easily be sorted for the better. A friend recommended a trip to Bolton Abbey, and we weren't disappointed. It's in a beautiful position in the Yorkshire countryside and by the river Wharfe. Parking's £15 or £12.50 if booked in advance but there's no entrance fee, and you have access to the Abbey and walks. There are plenty of places for a picnic but there are also tea rooms if you prefer. If you choose to along the river, there's plenty of activities to keep children happy. The are a bit arduous in places, so sturdy shoes are needed. It was well worth our 1.45 hour drive to get there. Met my friend for a around this place that needed to involve lunch. Lovely setting! We made the slight mistake of letting our curiosity get the best of us! Rather than sticking to the main path, we saw a sign for Desolation Valley and a waterfall and despite not having water or the right shoes for the job, off we went! 4 hours and 22k steps later, we got back to a cafe for a drink before going back past the Abbey and to the car for a spot of a very late lunch at the nearby Devonshire Arms! Fabulous day and very varied terrain—even climbed over a fence at one point!! Whoops. Didn’t make it inside the Abbey, but the cafe sold sparkling water and Prosecco, so we managed some hydration before the was finished.
